Airing of ABC's General Hospital has seen a few disruptions on the week of January 6, 2025. Tuesday, January 7 featured the news coverage of former President Jimmy Carter's funeral that was scheduled on the channel. As such, the regular episode was preempted and not aired on Tuesday. Following this, Los Angeles faced a severe wildfire situation which disrupted the show's smooth presentation as well.

Moreover, the bad weather affected Thursday afternoon's General Hospital show due to a loss of signal, which was then re-aired on Friday night till Saturday early morning. Add to these, General Hospital star Cameron Mathison posted a video of his burnt-down house on his Instagram handle.

The devastating news of the LA wildfires left fans worried that the show would likely go off-air. However, there is no such word from the production house.

Meanwhile, General Hospital is one of the longest-running American daily soap, airing on ABC since April 1963. The soap's plot focuses on the titular medical facility in the fictional place of Port Charles. The storyline extends to include other residents of the town including law enforcers and mobsters.

General Hospital: Which story arc faced disturbances due to the LA wildfires?

The recent General Hospital plot revolved around Michael, played by Chad Duell, who was slated to exit the soap. As his exit plot, Michael Corinthos was shown to have been a victim of an explosion and fire that was aimed at his adoptive father, Sonny Corinthos.

On January 6, 2025, Michael went to Sonny's penthouse to inform him about his decision to file for divorce and fight for the sole custody of both his children. This was in the wake of the accidental public disclosure of Michael's wife, Willow's affair with Drew Caine/Quartermaine.

As Jason Morgan arrived to discuss business with Sonny, the duo left Michael in the penthouse and stepped out into the hall for their conversation. Inside the penthouse, Michael heard a ticking sound before a blast which left him and the room swathed in flames.

While Sonny called 911, Jason rushed in and covered Michael with a rug. He was taken to the hospital where Lucas Jones informed his family that he had 40 percent burns and a doubtful chance of survival. Michael's family and friends arrived at the hospital including his cheating wife, Willow Corinthos.

After the initial explosion scene, the rest of Michael's fire accident, along with a disclaimer, was aired on Wednesday, January 8, 2025. This was a day after the LA wildfires destroyed many homes. The soap warned viewers about the disturbing coincidence, which could be painful to watch.

Around the same time, actor Cameron Mathison, who plays Drew Caine on General Hospital, posted a regretful video of his ruined house after being engulfed in the fire. Cameron's Drew is at the center of the current storyline.

What are the current plot dynamics of Michael's exit?

Michael's fire accident came as a devastating surprise. Since his wife cheating on him with his uncle was a recent event, leading to an impending divorce, fans were not expecting him to face a more painful situation. Under the care of esteemed doctors at the medical facility, there could have been chances of Michael recovering soon.

However, Friday's episode, dated January 10, 2025, showed Cyrus Renault, injecting Digitalis into Michael's IV bag. This would send Michael the same way as Sam and Dex, ensuring his death. Whether Portia, Iasaiah, and other hospital staff find out the truth about these events remains to be seen.

Stay tuned to General Hospital every weekday on ABC as Cyrus continues to play havoc and Willow takes over the charge of Michael's medical decisions.
