"Willow needs Michael's permission": General Hospital fans slam Willow for ignoring Michael’s parental rights

After the airing of the January 3, 2024 episode of General Hospital, fans were seen slamming Willow Cornithos for ignoring Micheal Cornithos's parental rights and taking their son Willey Cornithos out of state to attend Drew Quartermaine’s swearing-in ceremony without his consent.

Willow and Micheal's marriage has been turbulent this year and Micheal was seen taking advantage of this situation to help him with the divorce process. He was seen informing his attorney, Diane Miller about Willow's actions.

Fans were seen supporting Micheal and calling out Willow for not asking Micheal for consent before taking their son out of state.

A fan, Matthew Mulligan, posted on a Facebook fan page stating that Willow would need Micheal's permission to take Willey anywhere. This post was met with mixed reactions but most people agreed with Mulligan.

Fans agreed with the post and added that it was wrong of Willow to take Willey, Willow would need Micheal's permission. They also added that especially when it is out of state, she would surely need his permission.

Some fans disagreed with the post and said that Willow wouldn't need Micheal's permission but this was met with further disagreements from other fans. They said that though Willow has parental rights, she doesn't have sole custody, so she would indeed need Micheal's permission.

Some were confused about Willow's parental rights, which was corrected by other fans. It is noted that Willow adopted Willey and has parental rights. On June 7, 2021, Carly Cornithos confirmed to Jax that Willow had adopted Wiley.

The majority of fans seem to admit that Willow's actions were wrong and that she violated Micheal's rights by acting in such a way.

What has been going on with Micheal and Willow on General Hospital?

Michael Corinthos and Willow Tait's relationship met in 2018 in a support group. They developed a bond through their shared grief. In May 2020, to strengthen Michael's custody case for his son, Wiley, they entered into a marriage of convenience.

Despite marrying for convenience, they developed feelings for each other. Their first marriage was annulled in early 2021, but they rekindled their relationship and remarried in April 2023.

On January 31, 2023, the couple had a daughter, Amelia Corinthos. In November 2024, their marriage faced significant challenges. Michael discovered that Willow had an affair with his uncle, Drew Quartermaine.

After discovering Willow's affair, Michael had a one-night stand with his ex-girlfriend, Sasha Gilmore. Later, Sasha discovered that she was pregnant with Michael's child.

Though she planned to keep this a secret, she revealed the truth about the pregnancy to Micheal in January 2025.
