Since its debut in 1987, The Bold and the Beautiful has captivated audiences with its glamorous portrayal of high-stakes family drama in the fashion industry. At the show's heart lies an age-old battle between power waged by the Logans, the Spencers, and the Forresters.
Each family makes its splash with the intricate weave of the story. In recent episodes, fans were shocked and amazed as Ridge Forrester supported his daughter Steffy in her decision to fire Hope Logan. Matters soon worsened as Steffy cited personal vendettas and professional grievances as the reasons to end Hope for the Future (HFTF) as well as sack Hope from Forrester Creations.
Despite Brooke's best attempt to explain and defend her daughter, Ridge remained a man of his word and sided with Steffy, leaving Brooke upset and bitter at the betrayal. The episode brought mixed emotions for viewers about Ridge's loyalty to Brooke.
Fans were left to discuss heated debates long after the episode aired. The reviews for the episode have been non-stop with people feeling extremely disappointed in Ridge's ways. Many feel that Hope should have received an opportunity with the blessing of her mother, while others support Steffy, saying that she has all rights to reclaim Forrester Creations as it was once hers.
"No matter how much Brooke tries to get it through Ridge’s head he will alway’s defend his spoiled brat daughter!!" said a fan on Facebook
She further added:
"Brooke you’re fighting s losing battle!! Ridge will never listen to you, it’s time to cut the strings & cut Ridge off & through him out, you can do so much better!!"
Why did Ridge back Steffy over Brooke on The Bold and The Beautiful?
This is problematic for Ridge to favor what Steffy does rather than listen to what Brooke has to say. Fans are confused with Ridge's motives while he seems to stand by Steffy's argument, perhaps realizing that it is out of their will to protect their family and firm.
That, however, decision to prefer his daughter over his longtime love has brought into the limelight one of the running tensions that fans of The Bold and the Beautiful are all too well aware of—namely, how Ridge's allegiance to family legacy generally clashes with Brooke, especially whenever she is being an advocate for herself.
Some fans respond by suggesting this is a decision that speaks to a far deeper loyalty to the Forrester name and that Ridge believes Steffy's instincts will better serve the company. To others, this is a betrayal not only of Brooke but of their long-standing relationship as well.
As Ridge continues down this road of placing the interests of family over romantic commitments, one can't help but wonder if this is going to be the breach so deep that not even the inimitably resilient Brooke Logan will be able to recover from.
Should Steffy have fired Hope on The Bold and The Beautiful?
Steffy's decision to let go of Hope seriously stirred a debate among the fans. Despite such a belief, several argue that the kiss between Finn and Hope was enough of a personal and professional trespass by Hope, and she deserved to be dismissed from Forrester Creations.
The reason she feels vindicated is when she explains that Hope never showed any respect for her family's boundaries, and now it has come to a breaking point. Therefore, Steffy feels that letting Hope go is the first time in her life that she has made healthy boundaries, in both her personal life and in her workplace at Forrester Creations.
This viewpoint, however, contradicts the opinions held by Hope's fans, as they believe the decision was rather severe and somewhat jealousy-driven instead of being purely professional. The reason that Steffy reacted emotionally over the issue since Hope For The Future is indeed a successful line and an integral portion of her identity.
