Three-star Fort Bend Marshall (TX) cornerback Caleb Chester has committed to Steve Sarkisian's Texas Longhorns. His decision came after an official visit to Austin over the weekend, making him the 11th recruit in Texas' 2025 recruiting cycle.

Chester’s decision comes after a busy recruitment period, during which he received over 30 offers from various programs. He received interest from Texas A&M, Arkansas, and Florida State, among others, but chose the Longhorns following his recent official visit to Austin.

Chester's frequent visits to Texas played a huge role in his decision, including his attendance at the first big Junior day on January 20 and during spring practice on April 13. His return to Austin for an official visit on the weekend of June 7 resulted in his commitment to Texas.

Chester’s commitment is a big win for the Longhorns. With him on board, the class will be eyeing strengthening its defensive lineup, which already includes standout recruits like Brandon Brown, Lance Jackson, and Elijah Barnes.

Chester is listed as the 71st cornerback prospect in the country and is ranked 788th overall in 247Sports’ composite rankings. The On3 Industry Ranking lists him as the No. 599 player nationally, No. 61 corner, and No. 93 player in Texas.

Chester follows in the footsteps of his brother, Jacobe Chester, a Class of 2022 cornerback prospect.

Texas' coaching paved the way for Caleb Chester's commitment

Caleb Chester becomes the first defensive back to commit to Texas this cycle and the fourth defensive player overall. He joined an impressive defensive lineup headlined by Lance Jackson, a four-star defensive lineman and the highest-rated recruit Texas has landed this year.

Several factors contributed to Chester's decision to join the Longhorns, but the coaching staff played a major role. He has a strong relationship with Texas defensive backs coach Terry Joseph. Joseph, alongside safety coach Blake Gideon, even made multiple visits to Chester's high school over the past couple of years.

"Coach Joseph, I like him a lot," Chester told 247Sports. "He's a real standup guy, and I talk to him on a frequent basis about things like sports, life stuff, family stuff, just everything. I got a real good relationship with him."

The influence of Sarkisian also played a crucial role in Chester's decision.

"I'm also being coached by Coach Sark. He's one of the winningest coaches in all of college football right now, and the other things, they were just great."

Chester had scheduled official visits to Texas A&M on June 14 and Arkansas on June 21. However, he has decided to cancel these visits after solidifying his commitment to Texas.
