3 high school standouts at Georgia Tech
#3. Justin Hasenhuetl
Justin Hasenhuetl, a four-star offensive lineman from Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School in Georgia, announced his commitment to the Yellow Jackets on April 11 this year. He chose the program over prominent schools such as Arkansas, Auburn, Pittsburgh and Oregon. The 6-foot-5 athlete was Georgia Tech's first offensive lineman commit from the class of 2025.
"I feel pretty good about it," Hasenhuetl said. "I feel confident about the program, about Coach Wade, and about the school at Georgia Tech. I feel great about the future, and being able to compete at the next level. If you have a Georgia Tech degree, you can do whatever you want to from there." (H/T Rivals)
The offensive lineman is ranked No. 316 in the country and is the 18th-best OL in his class, as per 247Sports Composite. He is also the 42nd-best prospect from Georgia.
#2. Dalen Penson
Dalen Penson, a four-star cornerback from Sandy Creek High School in Tyrone, is another top athlete from the class of 2025 who pledged his allegiance to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets on June 9 this year. He chose Brent Key's team over other schools such as Kentucky, Ball State, Connecticut and Indiana.
"It is close to home. They [his family] don't have to fly on a plane or drive too long, it is just 40 minutes away," Penson said. "They love Georgia Tech. They bring everything to the table at GT. The visit left me with high hopes for the future. Coach Key always told me throughout this process that I was a Tech Man." (H/T Rivals)
Penson is ranked No. 122 nationally and is the 15th-best player at his position, as per 247Sports. He is also the 14th-best prospect from Georgia.
#1. Josh Petty
The five-star recruit from Fellowship Christian School in Roswell, Josh Petty, announced his commitment to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets on Aug. 12 this year. He chose the ACC program over other top schools such as Florida State, Tennessee, Ohio State and Stanford.
One of Petty's main reasons for signing with the Yellow Jackets was the team's offensive coordinator, Geep Wade, and his offensive schemes.
"Coach Geep Wade has been building something out there for a little bit," the 6-foot-5 athlete told Sports Illustrated. "He’s made it something special. Some of the best pass rushers are in the ACC, and some of the best offenses in the nation. It’s going to be great to be a part of that, especially at an early age."
Petty is ranked No. 14 nationally and is the second-best offensive lineman in the country, as per 247Sports. He is also the fourth-best overall prospect from his home state of Georgia.
