There are plenty of talented high school players in football, with many believing that these could be the next big thing in the sport.
While there is still no way of knowing what the future has in store for them, they have already exhibited signs of greatness that may or may not lead them to football stardom. Whether they would pop off and inspire dynasties in the NFL or be a dud is still unknown, but right now, these players have the potential.
5 high school players who could have great football careers in future
#5 LaDamion Guyton, Class of 2027, EDGE
This sophomore EDGE from Savannah Christian has been described by his own coach, Baker Woodward, as a 'freak.' During his freshman year, he helped lead Savannah Christian to the state championship game last season.
Though they fell short, Guyton still impressed many as he finished the season with 88 tackles and 10 sacks, becoming the No. 1 overall recruit from the Class of 2027.
#4 Dakorien Moore, Class of 2025, Wide Receiver
The 5-foot-11 wide receiver Dakorien Moore has already committed to Oregon. His offensive prowess has led Duncanville, one of the best high schools in the country for football, to win the 6A Division I state championship in 2022.
He also plays track and field and is also one of the top track stars in Texas. This makes him especially hard to catch, which may lead him to be one of the most slippery wide receivers when he does turn pro.
#3 Jackson Cantwell, Class of 2026, Offensive Tackle
Jackson Cantwell is a high school player whose genes have assured him of his athletic prowess. The son of US Olympians Christian and Teri (Steer) Cantwell, this offensive tackle also plays the sport his parents played, shot put.
He is the No. 1 overall from the Class of 2027, and he partners his athletic genetics with a hard work ethic that makes him stronger.
#2 Keelon Russell, Class of 2025, Quarterback
Another high school player from Duncanville, Keelon Russell is regarded as one of the best quarterbacks in a class that is brimming with talent in that position. He works very well with Dakorien Moore and would shine alongside other great players.
However, his skill set has already set him up for a bright future, especially as he and Moore would be parting ways in college.
#1 Bryce Underwood, Class of 2025, Quarterback
There are a lot of reasons why Michigan put out all the stops just to get Bryce Underwood to flip, and one of them is that he is that good of a high school player. During his sophomore season, he led Belleville to a perfect 14-0 record and back-to-back state titles, showing that he has what it takes to win.
He eventually flipped from LSU and has now signed with Michigan, and among the things Michigan promised him was being mentored by seven-time Super Bowl winner Tom Brady. This means that he will only get better from there.
