College football recruiting was prevalent in the 2024 high school football season. Quarterback talent from all over the country was on display for college football coaches and fans alike.

The 2025 class specifically made several headlines in the recruiting scene. In this article, the top 5 quarterback flips of the 2025 high school football class will be ranked.

5 major quarterback flips of the 2025 High School Football

1. Bryce Underwood: LSU to Michigan

Five-star quarterback out of Bellville High School in Michigan, Bryce Underwood held over 40 offers from top college football programs like Alabama, LSU, Georgia, and others but decided to commit to the LSU Tigers in January 2024.

But later in November, things changed when Underwood de-committed from LSU and flipped to Michigan. According to many speculations, it is believed that a 10 million dollar NIL Deal with Barstool, whose owner, Dave Portnoy is a Michigan alum, is the reason he chose the Wolverines.

2. Deuce Knight: Notre Dame to Auburn

Four-star quarterback Deuce Knight had offers from Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, and more but committed to Notre Dame in September 2023. He visited the Fighting Irish three times, from April 2024 to June.

However, Auburn appeared to still be in the mix as Tom Loy of 247sports had Deuce Knight at 100% prediction to flip to Auburn in August. Knight visited the Tigers three times from August to September 2024 and in October, he flipped. That came as a surprise, as he was committed to Notre Dame for more than a year.

3. Julian Lewis: USC to Colorado

four-star Carrollton High School quarterback Julian Lewis had over 20 offers from programs like Georgia, USC, Auburn, and others, but he committed to Lincoln Riley's USC Trojans in August 2023. Lincoln Riley is known to develop quarterbacks at a high level, so the commitment wasn't shocking.

Although Lewis was committed to the Trojans, other schools were in the mix, such as Georgia and Colorado. With USC's underwhelming season, Lewis de-committed from the Trojans on November 17th, 2024. In less than 5 days, he committed to the Colorado Buffaloes. Buffs star QB Sheduer Sanders is heading to the NFL and fans were looking to replace him at some point with another quarterback in the future.

4. Husan Longstreet Texas A&M to USC

Five-star quarterback, Husan Longstreet from Centennial High School in California is rated as the number 4 QB and 2nd ranked player in California per 247sports. He held over 30 offers from schools like Arizona, Arizona State, etc. Longstreet committed to Texas A&M in April 2024.

Husan visited USC on November 16th, 2024 and Andrew Hattersly of 247sports logged a 100% prediction to USC for Husan. Longstreet flipped his commitment from Texas A&M to USC on November 17th, 2024, after his visit. Julian Lewis de-committed from USC that same day, but Lincoln Riley still got a QB from the 2025 class.

5. Keelon Russell SMU to Alabama

Five-star quarterback Keelon Russell out of Duncanville High School in Texas as the number 2 player in the country and ranked 1st in the state of Texas. Russell accumulated over 20 offers from schools like Cal and UCLA, along with some schools in Texas like Texas A&M, TCU, Baylor, and SMU. Russell decided to stay home and committed to SMU in September 2023.

He remained committed to the Mustangs, officially visiting them on May 17th, 2024. SMU has regenerated its program and had good success in the field and in recruiting in recent years.

Other schools were still recruiting Keelon, like Alabama. He officially visited Alabama on May 31st, 2024 and less than 5 days later, he flipped his commitment to Alabama and eventually signed with them in December. Alabama QB Jalen Milroe is going to the NFL and the team will be looking to fill that role in the future.
