The Alabama Crimson Tide is one of the best schools in the history of college football, maybe the best ever. Alabama has already signed 20 of the top high school prospects from the class of 2025, so the future is bright.
The Crimson Tide's class of 2025 is ranked second in the nation, only behind Ohio State. Kalen DeBoer and company have achieved this ranking by signing elite talents, so let's take a look at their top three commits from the class of 2025 so far.
Alabama's top 3 recruits of 2025 class
#3, Darrell Johnson
Darrell Johnson is a four-star recruit from Dodge County High School who announced his commitment to Alabama in March. Johnson chose Alabama over other top schools such as Florida State, Auburn, UCF and Florida.
Johnsons spoke about his decision to commit to the Crimson Tide in an interview with On3.
"When I first got there, all the coaches wanted me to come home. They wanted me real bad. I feel like they wanted me and I wanted to be there too."
Johnson is ranked no.47 nationally and is the second-best athlete in the country, according to the On3 Industry Rankings. He is also the eighth-best overall prospect from the state of Georgia.
#2, Dijon Lee
Another top prospect who announced his commitment to the Tide is five-star Mission Viejo High School cornerback, Dijon Lee. The 6-foot-3 defensive back picked the Crimson Tide over other top programs such as USC, Georgia, Washington and Texas.
Lee announced his decision to commit to the Crimson Tide in late June. He took three visits to Tuscaloosa, including an official visit back in June, and spoke about the program's interest in him in an interview with BamaOnLine.
"Alabama is really different from where I am from in Cali," the five-star recruit told BOL. "We are a flashy state. You just put your head down and go to work at Alabama. That’s what I like about it. It’s probably the best football program ever!"
Lee is ranked as the 21st-best overall prospect in the nation and is ranked no.4 at his position, as per the On3 Industry Rankings. He is also the best overall recruit from the state of California.
#1, Keelon Russell
Duncanville High School's five-star quarterback Keelon Russell is one of the best prospects in the class of 2025. He announced his commitment to Alabama in June, choosing the Crimson Tide over programs such as SMU, Ole Miss, TCU, and Florida among others.
Russell had committed to SMU but flipped his decision following his first visit to Tuscaloosa. The five-star recruit spoke about his new head coach Kalen DeBoer in an interview with BamaOnLine:
"We had great conversations about how I could come play and do all of this," Russell told BOL's Joseph Hastings. "How the spot would be open. He likes my athleticism, my accuracy, and everything. He said I would be a perfect fit for the offense."
Russell is ranked no.26 nationally and is the fifth-best quarterback in the class, according to On3 Industry Rankings. He is also the seventh-best overall prospect from his home state of Texas.
