Kiyan Anthony was featured on the "League Ready" show on Monday with host Jason Jordan. They discussed several topics, including family and basketball. One of the highlights of the discussion was when Anthony shared the discussion he had with NBA star Jayson Tatum on his Overtime show.
“On my Overtime show, I had Jayson Tatum," Anthony said (04:39). "So recently I interviewed him, just digging his mind a little bit, his mindset coming off a championship. Obviously not playing in the Olympics and then not winning Finals MVP, just asked him like, what's his chip on his shoulder now coming into the season he's currently in.
"You can see he's one of, if not the best player in the NBA right now. So, just him coming off barely playing USA, still cheering his teammates and then winning a championship but not getting the final results in the finals MVP; just him still being grounded and him coming back having a season that he's having, he was just talking to me about that.”
Last season, Tatum averaged 26.9 points, 8.1 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game and led the Boston Celtics to the NBA title. He was also part of Team USA which won the gold medal in the Paris Olympics.
Kiyan Anthony's college prospects
Kiyan Anthony's access to top NBA talents, starting from his father, 10-time NBA All-Star Carmelo Anthony, is a huge asset for him. Kiyan is a four-star shooting guard and the No. 35 overall prospect in the Class of 2025, per On3 Industry Ranking.
He is entering his senior season in high school and is recruited by some of the top college basketball programs in the country. Kiyan is down to his final three schools: Syracuse, USC and Auburn.
He has a connection with Syracuse as his father played there and led the program to the NCAA title in 2003. When asked what he's looking for in a school, he had this to say:
“I’m looking for good coaching, and I want to play for a good team,” Anthony said in January, via On3. “I want to win. I feel like all the schools that I am talking to have a winning culture. I’ll want to go somewhere that is family-oriented too."
Kiyan Anthony will make his college decision announcement on Friday.
