After delaying his commitment until the opening day of the early signing period, Nathaniel Owusu-Boateng announced his commitment to Michigan over Coach Prime's Colorado. The four-star linebacker from IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, signed his Michigan letter of intent live on ESPN on Wednesday. His choice has sparked reactions from college football fans, especially on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter).

A Michigan fan on the platform, Griffin, took a swipe at Colorado, commenting:

“Colorado really thought they had him due to him announcing on ESPN.”

A Colorado fan, SoCal Buffalo, expressed their pride at being able to compete with top programs for highly rated talents like Owusu-Boateng. They wrote,

“Good luck to him. Not sure I understand all of the “Colorado really thought they had him” talk. We are now at that point again where we are battling for recruits from every big time school. Some choose CU some don’t. Acting like we aren’t in serious consideration is silly.”

One of the last highly-rated prospects of the 2025 class to commit, Nathaniel Owusu-Boateng is a talented linebacker standing at 6-ft-1 and weighing 205 pounds. The IMG product is ranked No. 189 overall prospect in the 2025 class and No. 19 linebacker per the On3 Industry Ranking. The ranking also puts him at No. 25 among prospects in Florida.

Although Colorado and Michigan outlasted other programs in the race for Nathaniel Owusu-Boateng, they faced competition from top programs including Texas, Florida, and Notre Dame. The prospect has been praised for being a dynamic presence in defense, tracking down ball carriers and keeping eyes on the quarterbacks.

Owusu-Boateng finished his junior season with 45 total tackles, six tackles for loss, a fumble recovery, and a sack despite playing only eight games. This is a glimpse into what he will bring to Michigan's defense next season when the Wolverines start their ascension back to the top.
