The Las Vegas Bishop Gorman's four-star recruit, Derek Meadows, is one of the most in-demand receivers in the nation. The 6-foot-5 receiver is currently on the radar of several schools. However, Meadows has narrowed his list to five programs: Alabama, LSU, Georgia, Notre Dame and Michigan.
He spoke about choosing from one of these five schools and his timeline for making a decision.
"I will pick one of these five schools when I commit," Meadows said (via On3). "I have said September before, but I could commit in July or August if I am ready. Going into the visits, all are on an even playing field."
Meadows has already visited all the schools once. However, the four-star recruit has had three visits with Notre Dame, who are in pole position to land the receiver. Let's take a look at all the five schools.
Derek Meadows' college offers
#1. Notre Dame
Notre Dame is in a strong position to land Derek Meadows. The four-star recruit has a lot of interest from other colleges as well, but Notre Dame has welcomed him for three visits already.
"It means a lot to me that Notre Dame believed in me early," Meadows said in an interview with On3. "They have been on me longer than these other schools and that is big. They have recruited me for over a year, and I have gotten to know coach Mike Brown, coach Marcus Freeman and my guy Chad Bowden. It has been great to build those relationships with the coaches for so long."
#2. Alabama
Alabama is another top school vying to acquire the services of Derek Meadows. Alabama's history of producing elite football players makes it a great destination for a receiver like Meadows.
"I knew coach Kalen DeBoer, coach JaMarcus Shephard and Courtney Morgan at Washington," Meadows told On3. "Coach Shephard has produced receivers, so he is a great coach and I like our relationship. The Alabama facilities are insane too. I am big on prehab a lot and Alabama has the perfect facilities for it."
#3. Georgia
Georgia could be a possible destination for Derek Meadows. He trains with Michael Jackson III, who is a receiver at Georgia. His old teammate, Justyn Rhett, is also at Georgia and Meadows has received positive reviews from both.
"Coach James Coley is a great coach," Meadows said. "He is very friendly and he teaches his receivers well. Mike (Jackson) likes coach Coley a lot and speaks highly of him. The people are Georgia are great too and it is just a top program."
#4. LSU
LSU has produced some amazing football players in recent years, and Derek Meadows can become one of them if he decides to join them next year. Meadows has already visited LSU's campus and spoken to the team's wide receivers coach, Cortez Hankton.
"Coach Cortez Hankton is a real guy. He is a real dude and I like him a lot," Derek Meadows said in an interview with On3. "He cares for his receivers and when I saw him at practice, I loved the drills he put his players through. Coach Hankton emphasized the little things and he is about the details. It really opened my eyes. LSU is WRU."
#5. Michigan
The defending champions hope to continue their good form despite losing their head coach, Jim Harbaugh, and a host of their players to the NFL.
"It was a very friendly environment up at Michigan," Meadows told On3. "Coach Ron Bellamy is a great human being. He is a real guy and I love who he is. He is outgoing, he is going to hype his players up, then he is going to push them when it is time to work."
Meadows might become an instant star with the Michigan faithful if he joins them.
