It's a tough choice true fans of the game don't like having before them: high school football or college football. Ultimately, everyone has a reason for their preference, and some fans aired their reactions to the debate on X.

On Saturday, MaxPreps asked if fans would rather watch a high school football game or a college football game.

An X user, Edward Thedford Jr. wrote:

“Texas high school football!”

Another X user, buckeyebrad, gave a more nuanced response and commented:

“I think high school football is good for hanging out with friends and having a chill game but cfb is more for tradition and atmosphere the the game ofc. Could also depend on how good your high school team is lol.”

Another detailed response came from one Coach Walker:

“High school by far. It used to be cfb, nfl, then hsfb. Now the order is hsfb, nfl, pop warner, cfl, usfl, semi pro, then cfb.”

For a netizen, Mike Silva, it is about the connection between teammates. He wrote:

“High school for sure! The purity of playing with your buddies you grew up with is unmatched.”

How high school football differs from college football

High school football is different from college football in various ways: rules, intensity, competitiveness, and more. One of the notable differences is in the dimensions of the field of play.

While the size of a football field is essentially the same at both levels, the distance between the hash marks is different. The distance between the hash marks in high school is 53-ft-4 but is reduced to 40 feet in college.

The difference is important to confine high school players within a narrower playing area and minimize their physical exertion. College football operates within a wider playing area and players are required to make more runs as well as physical contact.

The dimensions of goalposts are another area of difference between high school and college football. The goalposts in college are usually 35 feet high and 18-ft-6 wide. However, in high school, the height of goalposts is between 22 and 25 feet with the width at 23-ft-4.

Ultimately, college football is the advanced stopover between high school and pro football.
