Florida High School Football Rankings after Week 7: IMG Academy retains top spot after narrow victory

This year's Florida high school football season has been one for the books. After seven weeks of play, some teams are closer to the top than others. Schools in the conversation for the best in the state include IMG Academy, Venice, St. Thomas Aquinas and Miami Norland, among others.

St. Thomas Aquinas beat Chaminade Madonna in dominating fashion, Lakeland remained undefeated at 6-0 and Jones stayed unbeaten as well. IMG got away by the skin of its teeth with its win over Venice.

IMG Academy's narrow victory seals No. 1 spot in Florida High School Rankings

IMG Academy endured a tough task but came out victorious against Venice on Friday. In the second quarter, the Ascenders were up 21-7, but the Indians answered with a field goal, making it 21-10 at the half. Venice's defense held its own in the third quarter, not giving up any points. In the fourth quarter, Venice scored a rushing touchdown, making the score 21-16. IMG was on its heels.

The game was at a standstill with both teams not scoring any more points. IMG Academy eventually won the game 21-16 and retained its spot as the No. 1 high school team in the state of Florida.
