Carmelo Anthony’s son Kiyan Anthony once opened up on how he was eager to impress Memphis, Tennessee, rapper NLE Choppa when he came to watch one of his games at the Nike EYBL.

Anthony has a good record at EYBL but still had to put on a show for Choppa when he came to watch Team Melo against Vegas Elite in Memphis. The 6-foot-5 shooting guard spoke about that in an interview that premiered on Overtime’s YouTube page on Sep 16, 2023.

“Just to see people like NLE Choppa, you know from the rappers’ side. It’s a great feeling. Just to see how many really on me,” Anthony said (00:12:35)..
“Him showing out to the game, it’s like we gotta put on a show,” the Middle Village, New York native added.

Choppa added that he was excited to see Anthony play because he has been a fan of the player since he was younger.

“Him Kiyan, it’s really good to watch him play. I’ve been watching him hoop since he was younger. He’s progressing very well for real,” Choppa said.

Kiyan Anthony did put on a show in front of Choppa, as he led Team Melo to an 84-79 victory over the Vegas Elite. Carmelo Anthony's son, who's following his father’s footsteps by committing to Syracuse for college basketball, dropped 30 points.

The two teams would meet again last year, with Vegas gaining revenge following a 66-51 victory. Anthony was unable to replicate his 30-point game, as he only recorded 12 points in the loss.

Kiyan Anthony continues to shine at EYBL

Despite failing to back up his 30-point display, Kiyan Anthony has a good record at EYBL.

As per MaxPreps, he was the 10th-leading scorer on the Nike EYBL 17U circuit, averaging 20.3 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.6 assists per contest through 10 games last year.

The Long Island Lutheran High School star scored 28 points on 5-10 3-point shooting against Pro Skills Elite, in one of his best performances in the league. He also scored 25 against PSA Cardinals and NY Rens, shooting 4-on-7 from deep against the Cardinals.

At the 2024 Nike EYBL Peach Jam competition, Kiyan Anthony dropped 40 points on 15-19 shooting.
