Five-star Michigan Wolverines signee Andrew Babalola has credited the program's coach Sherrone Moore for his role in recruiting him. Babalola signed with Michigan during the early signing period, cementing the commitment he made to the Wolverines earlier in October.
He appeared on an exclusive Q&A with the Wolverines’ TJ Holland, where he commented on Moore's influence on him. He said (2:16):
“Coach Moore is awesome. He's a coach that you can call and don't talk about football recruiting, just talk about life in general.”
He also touched on how his rapport with Moore helped his decision.
“He's just, you know, the head coach I felt most comfortable with … I trusted and believed in his plan and vision for the program and obviously, we're seeing the fruits of it now.”
Sherrone Moore's experience with Babalola goes back to when he was the Wolverines’ offensive line coach. He was in that role when the program extended an offer to Babalola in 2023.
He has since been a priority target for Michigan. Babalola visited the Wolverines unofficially in the Spring before returning for an official visit in June.
Moore's successor as offensive line coach, Grant Newsome retained the interest in the five-star prospect, strengthening the extant relationship with him.
How good is Sherrone Moore’s 2025 recruiting class?
Sherrone Moore has been able to put together an impressive class of recruits for the Wolverines. The On3 Industry national team recruiting rankings puts them at No. 6 nationally and No. 3 in the Big Ten, behind Ohio State and Oregon.
In addition to Babalola, who stands at 6-foot-5 and weighs 295 pounds, the class has 22 other recruits. The offensive lineman is the No. 3 offensive tackle nationally and the No. 15 overall recruit according to the On3 Industry Rankings.
The jewel in the crown of the recruiting class is No. 1 quarterback Bryce Underwood, who flipped from LSU. Recruiting Underwood was important for Sherrone Moore in his search for a decisive solution to Michigan's quarterback situation.
The Wolverines lost their starting quarterback for the national championship-winning season in 2023 to the 2024 NFL Draft. He is projected to be Michigan's starting quarterback next season as a true freshman.
Moore's team is 7-5 this season after picking up crucial wins against North Northwestern and Ohio State. The first-year coach will be expected to improve the Wolverines’ outing next season after a disappointing national championship defense this season.
