Lane Kiffin has expressed satisfaction with his 2025 class of recruits for Ole Miss. The Rebels sealed the commitments of several prospects they've recruited in the current cycle on Wednesday as the early signing period commenced.
In a subsequent presser, Kiffin touted the class as the "best" he's recruited from high school since he started coaching Ole Miss.
“I think this is our best class of high school players since we've been here....that's the product of a lot of winning seasons, third-winningest program in SEC behind Georgia and Alabama. It's critical for players to see that,” he said.
The Ole Miss 2025 recruiting class ranked No. 14 nationally, per 247Sports, and ninth in the SEC behind Texas, Alabama, Georgia, Auburn and LSU. The class is headlined by five-star wide receiver Caleb Cunningham.
In addition to Cunningham, the Rebels also added four-star offensive lineman Devin Harper, four-star cornerbacks Cortez Smith and Maison Dunn, and four-star safety Ladarian Clardy. Others in the class include four-star wide receiver Winston Watkins Jr. and four-star defensive lineman Andrew Maddox.
What the Ole Miss 2025 recruiting class means for Lane Kiffin
Lane Kiffin is one of the coaches known for relying more on the transfer portal for their recruitment than high school prospects. This has earned him the sobriquet “transfer portal king” among fans. What then is responsible for the new surge in the Rebels’ high school recruiting under Kiffin? He answered the question in the aforementioned presser: Ole Miss is winning, and it's attractive.
The Rebels have a .745 winning percentage, only behind Alabama and Georgia in the SEC since 2022. This season, they are 9-3 and are on course to get their third 10-win campaign in five seasons with Kiffin in charge.
His biggest recruit of this class, Caleb Cunningham, echoed the point of attraction to the program while speaking to the press on Wednesday.
“I love Lane Kiffin's offense," Cunningham said. "He's not just the best coordinator in college football, he's the best head coach in college football. It's really good that I'll be able to play under him.”
Getting Cunningham, for Kiffin, is not just about getting a top prospect. It is equally important to keep him, an in-state prospect, from rivals in the SEC. Ole Miss faced competition from Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Florida, LSU, USC, Tennessee and several Big Ten teams in recruiting the standout receiver.
