Daune Morris is the latest name making the rounds in rumors suggesting a potential flip from USC to Tennessee. The three-star running back is an in-state prospect the Vols have been recruiting relentlessly, despite his commitment to the Trojans. Tennessee fans may begin to get their hopes up following predictions of an impending flip by recruiting insider, On3's Steve Wiltfong.
Wiltfong’s prediction came on the back of Morris’ presence at Knoxville to watch the Vols beat Kentucky 28-18 to go 7-1 on Saturday.
The running back prospect’s presence at Knoxville is a prelude to an official visit scheduled for Nov. 22. This series of activities has seen Tennessee rise to become a 90.9% favorite to sign Inside Morris, per On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.
This adds more credence to the rumors about a potential flip. It would not be surprising if the prospect eventually flips his commitment from USC to Tennessee.
Last week saw Clemson lose four-star cornerback Graceson Littleton and also flip three-star lineman Gavin Blanchard from UCF.
However, all we have yet are predictions, and it can't be conclusively said that Morris is flipping to Tennessee.
Who is Tennessee potential commit Daune Morris?
Daune Morris is a three-star running back for Oakland High School in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. The high school senior is 5-ft-10 tall and weighs 180 pounds. His light and athletic frame are perhaps his greatest assets as a runner, both on track and the gridiron.
He is the No. 41 running back nationally according to the On3 Industry Ranking, which also puts him at No. 508 overall nationally.
He has attracted the interest of several college programs, piling up 31 offers in the process, per 247Sports. In addition to USC and Tennessee, he has offers from Auburn, Kentucky, Arkansas State, Colorado, Duke, Florida, Indiana, and Louisville among others. He has also taken several unofficial trips to campuses, including twice to Alabama, Ole Miss, and Kentucky.
He made an official visit to Auburn in June, however, after an official visit to USC in early April. This had resulted in his commitment to the Trojans.
Josh Heupel’s Tennessee has secured 24 commitments for its 2025 class of recruits, ranked No. 8, per On3.
Headlining the Tennessee 2025 class of recruits is five-star offensive tackle David Sanders Jr. With just one running back commitment so far, securing Daune Morris will be a boost for Tennessee. It remains to be seen if his visit later this month will do the trick.
