Bryce James made a surprise announcement on Instagram on Wednesday, committing to the Arizona Wildcats to pursue his college basketball career in 2025

James, the youngest son of four-time NBA champion LeBron James, had received only offers from the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Duquesne Dukes and drew mild interest from the USC Trojans. However, it seems Arizona associate coach Jack Murphy has seen something in James, as 247Sports credited him for the decision to bring James into the fold in Tucson for next year.

"100% committed," James wrote.

Murphy has signed some top talents for Arizona, including Kerr Kriisa, Azuolas Tubelis and Daniel Batcho, who were four-star prospects in the Class of 2020.

Bryce James is a three-star shooting guard prospect who plies his trade for Sierra Canyon School. He ranks 257th overall and 46th among shooting guards in the Class of 2025, according to 247Sports.

James participated in this year's Nike Peach Jam tournament, representing his father's AAU team, Strive For Greatness. Across five games, he averaged 5.6 points, 2.4 rebounds and 1.0 blocks in 22.2 minutes. He shot .37.6% (17.6% from 3-point range) and 50.0% from the free-throw line in the tournament.

He enjoyed a strong outing against the Peach Jam champion, Nightrydas Elite, getting 12 points and two rebounds despite losing 79-61 on July 13.

Bryce James joins five-star prospect in Arizona's 2025 signing class

Bryce James became the second commitment for the Wildcats' 2025 signing class, just under three months after they signed Brewster Academy star Dwayne Aristode, who is ranked 14th overall and fifth among small forwards in the Class of 2025, according to 247Sports Composite.

The Wildcats have been one of the top teams in the Big 12 under Tommy Lloyd, winning two regular season titles and two conference tournament titles, while appearing in every NCAA Tournament in the last three seasons. They made the Sweet 16 of March Madness last season.

USC is off to a 7-5 start this season but has fallen out of the AP Top 25 after being ranked as high as No. 9 in November.
