Utah Prep, led by the No. 1 overall prospect in the Class of 2025, AJ Dybantsa, is in Canada for Grind Session Toronto. In their second game, a Canadian team proved that having the best high school player in the US is sometimes not enough to win as Fort Erie upset Utah Prep on Monday.
Dybantsa, whose NIL is worth $2 million, per On3, and projected to be the No. 1 pick in the 2026 NBA draft, was his usual self, putting up a strong performance with 23 points, nine rebounds, two assists and one steal. His teammate Anthony Felesi also played well, as he tallied 17 points, eight rebounds, two steals and one block. However, their efforts were not enough as Fort Erie kept things close and won, 72-70.
Four-star recruit Tristan Beckford led Fort Erie with 17 points, six rebounds and three assists, and was named the player of the game. A native of Phoenix, Arizona, he is ranked No. 48 nationally and also the No. 33 small forward in the 2025 class. He has offers from Arkansas State, Minnesota and Boise State, among others.
His Fort Erie teammate, Deng Ngor, also had a solid game with 15 points, seven rebounds, two assists, two steals and two blocks.
This preseason, AJ Dybantsa and Utah Prep has won over other US high school powerhouses such as the Boozer Twins and Christopher Columbus in September, as well as Nate Ament and Highland High Schoo on Wednesday.
