Four-star prospect Charles Ross, a key player for North Shore High School, has kicked off his senior season with a bang, helping his team to a 3-0 start. Last season, he led the school to a Texas 6A Division I state runner-up finish.

Ross has been committed to LSU since March 9 and remains loyal to the Tigers despite other programs, including Houston, Pittsburgh and California, still vying for his attention, according to On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine.

He reaffirmed his commitment to Brian Kelly's program by announcing that he will visit Baton Rouge for a game-day experience at Death Valley when the Tigers face UCLA on Saturday afternoon.

Ross shared the news on X, tagging Kelly and defensive coordinator Blake Baker:

"I'll be back in Death Valley this weekend 🐯💜💛 #Home@LSUfootball @CoachBrianKelly @CoachBlakeBaker @Sheadixon."

After losing to USC in the season opener, the No. 16 Tigers won their last two games. They defeated South Carolina 36-33 on Saturday. Meanwhile, UCLA defeated Hawaii 16-13 in Week 1, although the team is coming off a 42-13 loss to Indiana last weekend.

LSU will host UCLA at Tiger Stadium, where LSU has enjoyed phenomenal success, winning their last 16 games against non-conference opponents at home. This historical advantage will be a factor in the matchup, though the teams previously met in the 2021 season opener, with UCLA securing the win 38-27.

Charles Ross' athletic profile

According to Hudson Standish, a national analyst for 247Sports, Charles Ross possesses the potential to excel as a true sideline-to-sideline linebacker. His adaptability and athleticism have been lauded as key attributes that could enable him to shine in various defensive roles.

This upcoming season, LSU is undergoing changes at linebacker, with stars like Harold Perkins and Greg Penn entering the NFL draft. Ross can be seen as an outside linebacker prospect to fill the void. However, there is speculation that his skill set might also translate well to a safety position at the next level.

Ross is ranked by On3 as the No. 184 overall prospect in the nation, the No. 19 linebacker in the 2025 class and the No. 30 recruit in Texas. Rivals places him as the No. 105 overall prospect in the nation, the No. 12 linebacker in the class and the No. 18 recruit in the state.

Ross will prove his caliber at the 2025 All-American Bowl, having accepted his invitation to the game on Sept. 9. He will compete in the East vs. West matchup in January at the Alamodome in Texas.

He's also a standout track athlete, having secured a fifth-place finish in the 100-meter dash at the Texas UIL 6A state meet as a junior.
