Gilmour Academy (Cleveland, OH) three-star tight end Brody Lennon committed to the Ohio State Buckeyes' 2025 class on Thursday, choosing them over Wisconsin, Kentucky, Missouri, and Penn State, among others. One of the major reasons behind his commitment to the program was its success in the tight end room.

In his second year as the Buckeyes' offensive coordinator, Chip Kelly has secured the team's second consecutive multiple-tight end class with Lennon's commitment. Lennon continues a streak of two classes with at least one in-state tight end commit, following Damarion Witten's signing with the program in 2024.

“Chip Kelly came from the Eagles a while ago and Zach Ertz I think [was] the highest receiving tight end in the NFL at one point, under Chip Kelly,” Lennon told Lettermen Row. “So that’s kind of the direction they kind of want to use."

Brody Lennon was impressed by the utilization of tight ends under Kelly's system.

“They’re just going to use the best players that are on the field. So if that’s the tight ends then that’s gonna be the tight ends."

Ohio State’s recruiting efforts have paid off, as they currently hold the No. 1 ranking in the nation for the 2025 class, with commitments from 19 players. Their focus on tight end development stands out, with four former Ohio State tight ends currently on NFL rosters.

This track record of preparing tight ends for professional success played a crucial role in Brody Lennon's recruitment. He also expressed enthusiasm for the incoming talent, including himself and four-star tight end Nate Roberts, both committed to the 2025 class.

"I think they’re gonna head in the right direction of starting to use a lot more 12 personnel because there’s just so much talent in that room, especially with me and Nate coming in. Just helps that so much more.”

With players like Jelani Thurman, Max LeBlanc, and Damarion Witten expected to lead, alongside potential NFL draft prospects Bennett Christian and Will Kacmarek, Ohio State’s current tight end room is poised for success.

Why did Brody Lennon pick Ohio State over Kentucky?

Brody Lennon was initially assumed to be committed to Kentucky, and he even made an official visit to the program the weekend of June 14. But then he received a significant offer from Ohio State on June 13, following an exceptional performance at their recruiting camp.

The offer marked a turning point, leading to an official visit to Ohio State over the following weekend. Not long after, Lennon committed to the Buckeyes, fulfilling a lifelong dream. Growing up as a die-hard Buckeyes fan, he had always aspired to play for the program.

“It was kind of surreal, because it’s always been my dream to play at Ohio State.” Lennon told Lettermen Row. “So when I had the opportunity and everything felt right, for me and my family, we decided that was what’s best for us as a family. I liked it the best. So we chose Ohio State.”

Brody Lennon currently ranks as the No. 487 overall player in the country, the No. 27 tight end, and the No. 19 player in Ohio, per the On3 Industry Ranking. 247 Sports also lists him as the No. 30 tight end and the No. 22 player in Ohio. During his junior year, he recorded 750 receiving yards and eleven touchdown receptions on 32 catches.
