Four-star linebacker Ty Jackson from Seminole Ridge High School, Loxahatchee, Florida, is one of the hottest prospects in the 2025 class. He named Florida State Seminoles, Texas A&M, Syracuse, Penn State, Alabama, Miami, Tennessee, Georgia, Oklahoma and Florida his choices in February.

After making several official visits last month, he will visit Florida State on Nov. 30. In an interview with On3's Steve Wiltfong, Jackson's father, Semaj, shared insights into why the Seminoles remain a strong contender in his son's recruitment.

“They’ve always been in contention,” Semaj said. “My wife Tangela is an alumni. That’s always near and dear to her heart. It’s a matter of getting around and checking out other schools."

Jackson's father also had praise for the Seminoles coaching staff.

“You got a great head coach, Coach Norvell," he said. "Obviously their record speaks for itself how far they went last year. You have Randy Shannon. He’s been in the game a long time."
"You have Ernie Sims backing him up as an analyst and he was also a great linebacker at Florida State. He was the linebackers coach at UCF. You have great minds at the linebacker core coaching these guys up. That’s all you want to do is put yourself in the best position possible.”

The Jackson family is also considering another visit to Florida State over the weekend of July 27. The Gators have also extended an invitation, but the final decision is pending. Jackson is contemplating attending several other high-profile games, including Penn State’s White Out, the Georgia-Alabama clash and the Miami-Florida game.

Which programs are in the mix for Ty Jackson's commitment?

Jackson received over two dozen offers and officially visited Alabama, Florida, Penn State and Georgia last month. These four programs are in the race to earn his pledge, with the Crimson Tide leading with a 28.3% chance, per the On3 recruiting prediction machine. Following closely behind are Georgia at 20.7%, Florida at 14.3% and Penn State at 11.9%.

Jackson is the No. 25 overall prospect and No. 1 linebacker in the 2025 class and the No. 3 player in Florida, per On3. 247 Sports ranks him as the No. 195 overall prospect and No. 20 linebacker in the class and the No. 24 player in the state.

Jackson was named to the 247Sports All-Combine Team earlier this year. He boasts 135 total tackles, including 54 solo tackles, along with four tackles for loss, two sacks and two interceptions, along with four forced fumbles. He recorded 378 tackles, 15 tackles for a loss, six sacks, five forced fumbles and four interceptions throughout high school.
