Jared Curtis, a five-star quarterback from the Class of 2026, plays for Nashville Christian High School in Tennessee. He made an early verbal commitment to the Georgia Bulldogs in March but announced his decommitment from the program on Thursday.
Curtis still received offers even after his commitment to the Kirby Smart's Bulldogs which ultimately led to his decision. He is now set to take two visits: one to Auburn and the other to Georgia.
Auburn's 2026 recruiting class is ranked No. 5 in the nation, while Georgia is ranked No. 20, per 247Sports' Overall Football Team Rankings. Auburn has already landed five commits and Georgia has managed two so far.
Curtis' decommitment is a major blow for Georgia, as they are now left with four-star cornerback Dominick Kelly and three-star CB Jontavius Wyman.
Curtis is ranked No. 8 nationally and is the second-best QB in the class, per On3 Industry Rankings. He is also the top overall prospect from the state of Tennessee.
Jared Curtis reveals the reason behind his de-commitment from Georgia
Georgia lost their only five-star recruit for the 2026 class after Jared Curtis revealed his reasons in a statement that he shared on X account on Friday.
"When I first committed to Georgia, I wasn't fully aware of what was to come, including the other options I've been truly blessed to have but could not consider," Curtis said, via Bleacher Report. "This morning I spoke with Coach Smart and Coach Bobo and let them know that I still love Georgia, but would like to take some more time to explore all my options so I can make the best, most informed decision for my future."
Curtis has also received offers from Ohio State, Alabama, South Carolina, Texas A&M, Tennessee, LSU and Michigan.
Jared Curtis has racked up 6,692 passing yards and 74 touchdowns with just 19 interceptions in his high school career. He has completed 60.1% of his pass attempts and has a QB rating of 115.8.
