The 2024 football season is heating up, with elite prospects attracting attention from major college programs. One of the rising stars is four-star wide receiver Gordon Sellars, who picked up an offer from the Michigan Wolverines last week.
This week, Mario Cristobal's Miami Hurricanes entered the race for Sellars' recruitment by offering him for the Hurricanes' 2026 class. The prospect shared the news on X, tagging Miami wide receiver coach Kevin Beard:
"Blessed to receive an offer from the University of Miami!!! @Kevin_Beard9 @ChadGrier_ @iKingGreen @247recruiting @RivalsFriedman @CanesFootball."
The Hurricanes are actively working to build their 2026 recruiting class, which currently includes two committed players: four-star linebacker Jordan Campbell from Miami Carol City High School and three-star quarterback Dereon Coleman from Jones High School, both based in Florida. The class saw a setback in February when three-star cornerback Ksani Jiles decommitted.
However, Miami remains in a strong position for several top recruits, especially four-star wide receiver Jabari Brady. The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine gives the Hurricanes an 87.7% chance of securing his commitment. The school is also in the mix for several other top wide receiver targets in the 2026 cycle, including Jayden Petit, Somourian Wingo, DJ Williams, Jasen Lopez, Larry Miles and Karaijus Hayes.
Gordon Sellars' junior season so far
On September 20, Sellars played a crucial role in the Providence Day Chargers' 55-7 victory against Christ High School, where he racked up 117 receiving yards. The game was largely decided by halftime, with the Chargers leading 27-7. Following this decisive win, the Chargers continued their winning streak with a 61-7 victory over North Raleigh Christian Academy on Sept. 26.
The Chargers secured the past three state championships and also entered the season ranked as the No. 1 team in the Carolinas' top 25. Throughout five games, Gordon Sellars has emerged as a key player for this mighty team, accumulating 435 receiving yards and five touchdowns.
Besides excelling in games, Sellars is also making game-day visits to college programs. He attended South Carolina's nail-biting game against LSU on Sept. 13 and is set to visit Clemson this weekend for their match against Stanford.
247 Sports ranks Gordon Sellars as the No. 218 overall prospect in the nation, the No. 36 wide receiver in the 2026 class and the No. 14 recruit in North Carolina. ESPN places him as the No. 117 overall prospect nationally, the No. 20 wide receiver in the class and the No. 7 recruit in the state.
