Five-star defensive lineman Jahkeem Stewart, formerly the No. 1 prospect in the 2026 class, reclassified to the 2025 class on Saturday. His decision came after his transfer from St. Augustine High School in New Orleans to Edna Karr High School in Reserve, Louisiana, allowing him to graduate a year earlier.
Stewart announced via X and wrote:
"I am humbled and blessed to be in this position. Thank you @EdnaKarrHS @InspireNOLA @BE_LEGENDARY__ @EDGEASSASSINS for their support and love through this ordeal and these tough times. I am forever grateful for you all fighting for my future. I am officially in the 2025 class."
The 6-foot-6, 270-pound athlete possesses an incredible combination of agility and technical skill. Despite being ineligible to compete in Louisiana high school football this fall due to his in-season transfer, he made a big impact in his previous season. As a sophomore, he recorded 85 tackles, including 33 tackles for loss and 20 sacks.
Jahkeem Stewart's reclassification has adjusted his ranking to No. 14 in the 2025 class according to On3's industry rankings. He is also recognized as the No. 3 defensive lineman and the top recruit in Louisiana.
Jahkeem Stewart sets official visits after reclassification
With his reclassification, Jahkeem Stewart has become one of the most sought-after uncommitted prospects in the 2024 recruiting cycle, just two months ahead of the early signing period. He has drawn attention from multiple programs, putting him in the spotlight alongside other high-profile uncommitted players, including five-star talents Elijah Griffin and Justus Terry, as well as four-star athlete Michael Terry.
Stewart has narrowed down his options to four finalists: Ohio State, LSU, Oregon and USC. He attended the much-anticipated neutral site opener between USC and LSU in Las Vegas during Week 1. According to Hunter Shelton of On3, he is scheduled to visit each of these schools in the coming weeks.
He will be in Eugene on Saturday to watch Oregon host Ohio State. He also has plans to visit LSU on Nov. 9 when Alabama comes to town and he will head to Los Angeles to watch USC take on the Nebraska Cornhuskers on Nov. 16.
Jahkeem Stewart will then visit Ohio State on Nov. 30 to see the Buckeyes play against Michigan.
