Safety Daijon Gaines from Union High School, Oklahoma, is one of the most promising rising stars in the 2026 recruiting class. He has already hit the recruitment market, with offers from Arizona, Kansas, Tulsa and Oklahoma.

Boston College is the most recent program to offer Gaines on Wednesday. It was his No. 13 offer from a Division I program and he shared the news on X:

"#AGTG Blessed to receive my 13th D1 Offer from Boston College #GodWilling #GoEagles🦅⚪️ @CoachB212 @coach_shad @CoachSmith918 @HScarJr2 @coach_fred."

The safety's first D1 track offer was from Utah and before Boston College, Kansas was the most recent program to offer him. Union High School has been a fertile ground for talent, with Boston College already securing commitments from two of Daijon Gaines' peers, Shaker Reisig and Ashton Cunningham, for their 2025 recruiting class.

Boston College also extended an offer to three-star cornerback Jalon Copeland on the same day. The 2026 class prospect has offers from Connecticut, Illinois, Tulane, Michigan State and Nebraska.

Boston College's 2026 recruiting class currently features three-star prospect Marcelino Antunes, who is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 31 offensive lineman and the No. 2 prospect in Massachusetts and three-star recruit Corin Berry, who is the No. 55 quarterback and the No. 125 prospect in California. The program's 2026 class now ranks No. 32 in the Rivals team ranking.

Which programs are in the mix for Daijon Gaines?

According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, SMU leads the pack with a 62.4% potential to secure Daijon Gaines' commitment for their 2026 recruiting class. Following behind are Kansas at 5.0%, Kansas State at 4.3%, and North Texas at 3.5%. All these programs currently don’t have any players committed to the 2026 class.

With an incredible performance at the State Championships, where he secured the State Runner-Up title in the 400m dash with a blistering time of 47.98 seconds, Gaines has firmly established himself as a dual-sport athlete to watch. His dominance was also proved with a gold medal finish in another 400m dash event earlier this year.

Daijon Gaines is currently unranked by major recruiting services such as 247Sports, Rivals, and On3.
