Four-star running back Ezavier Crowell, from Jackson High School in Jackson, Alabama, racked up more than 20 scholarship offers in his recruitment. Receiving an offer from Alabama's running back coach, Robert Gillespie, in late January was an unforgettable moment for the 2027 prospect.
This Saturday, Crowell will be at Bryant-Denny Stadium to witness Alabama's season opener against Western Kentucky, according to Brett Greenberg of 247 Sports.
The game is set for 7 p.m. and will be historic as it marks the beginning of a new era under head coach Kalen DeBoer, following Nick Saban's legendary tenure. Many fans are curious about how Alabama will fare without Saban, but Crowell is a huge DeBoer believer.
"I think the DeBoer era is going to be great, it's going to be like the Nick Saban era," Crowell told Bama 247. "Everybody thinks because Nick Saban is gone, it's going to be different but I think 'Bama is going to keep the same energy and keep on the same path."
Alabama's matchup against Western Kentucky will be the fourth meeting between the two teams, with the Crimson Tide having won all three previous encounters.
For Crowell, this game is another opportunity to deepen his connection with the in-state program. Crowell has already made multiple trips to Tuscaloosa, attending A-Day in April and a high school camp in June.
Ezavier Crowell will not rush his commitment decision
Ezavier Crowell exploded onto the scene in his sophomore season opener against Saraland, rushing for over 200 yards on 20 carries, including an incredible 47-yard touchdown run.
While his freshman season's performance and sophomore season's excellent start are drawing interest from college programs, Crowell is in no rush in the commitment decision.
"I am not in any hurry, I am going to wait it out," Crowell told Bama 247. "I am not in a rush."
The 5-foot-11, 205-pound prospect sits as the No. 13 overall prospect in the 2027 class, the No. 2 running back in the nation and the No. 1 player in Alabama, according to the On3 Industry Ranking.
He has received offers from Alabama, Michigan, Ohio State, UCF, Ole Miss Texas, Oregon and Mississippi State, among others.
UCF is leading the 247Sports Crystal Ball predictions for Crowell's commitment. But the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine favors Alabama, giving the Crimson Tide a 56.9% chance of landing the running back, followed by Auburn with a 17.7% chance.
