Top 3 high school football upcoming matches
#3 Don Bosco Prep (Ramsey, N.J.) vs. No. 22 Bergen Catholic (Oradell, N.J.)
Date: Saturday, Sept. 28
Time: 1 p.m. ET
This intense rivalry is one of the biggest in New Jersey and this Saturday, Don Bosco Prep and Bergen Catholic will be able to play for the 80th time. Don Bosco is now ahead in the series, having 41 wins, while Bergen Catholic won four of the last five match-ups.
Don Bosco Prep has bounced back after an opening loss to Archbishop Hoban (Ohio), going on to dominate their next two opponents with a combined score of 93-10.
They’ll rely on key players like quarterback Deven Sisler (6-4, 210), tight end J.T. Geraci (6-5, 230), and defensive lineman Aidan O'Neil (6-5, 250) to bring their A-game.
Bergen Catholic, after a tough 27-14 loss to No. 6 IMG Academy, have rattled off three straight wins, including a 35-21 road victory against No. 25 Massillon (Ohio).
Key players like wide receiver Quincy Porter (6-4, 200), defensive back Jordan Thomas (6-1, 185) and running back Najee Calhoun (5-10, 190) will be crucial in their quest
#2. Kahuku (Hawaii) vs. Mililani (Hawaii)
Date: Saturday, Sept. 28
Time: 6:30 p.m. HST
In Hawaii, one of the most highly anticipated games this week is the matchup between Kahuku and Mililani. Kahuku, a powerhouse in the state, comes into this game with two losses, but both were against top-ranked national teams — No. 1 Mater Dei (California) and No. 5 Bishop Gorman (Nevada).
Kahuku’s defense, led by linebacker Max Fonoimoana (6-3, 220) and defensive backs Aiden Manutai (6-0, 195) and Madden Soliai (6-0, 180) will be vital as they try to contain Mililani’s offense.
Mililani has been exceptional this season, boasting a 5-0 record despite missing last year's MaxPreps Hawaii Player of the Year, quarterback Treston McMillian, who has been sidelined due to injury.
Stepping in for McMillian is Kekoa Koong, who has filled the void with solid performances, including a significant win over Los Alamitos (California) on Sept. 6.
The Trojans will look to continue their momentum with a defense anchored by linebacker Trehsyn Fesili (6-1, 200) and defensive lineman Ejay Tapeni (6-3, 250). Wide receiver Jonah Togafau-Tavui (6-1, 175) and linebacker Elijah Nua (6-1, 220) are also key contributors.
#1. C.E. King (Texas) vs. No. 4 Atascocita (Texas)
Date: Thursday, Sept. 26
Records: C.E. King (2-1), Atascocita (3-0)
This week’s showdown between C.E. King and Atascocita is the headliner. C.E. King is ranked No. 23 in Texas and has already shown flashes of brilliance, including a 42-0 win over Dekaney. However, they’ll face their toughest challenge yet in Atascocita, the No. 4 team in the state.
King will require impressive exhibitions from athletes such as wide receiver Jabari Staples (6-1, 180) and quarterback Aaron Frye (5-11, 170). Linebacker Ta’karee Slaughter (5-11, 195) and Safety Deon Callins (5-11, 180) will be responsible for slowing down the Atascocita attackers.
Atascocita, with their defensive musclemen, namely Jared Smith (6-6, 250) and Cam Pritchett (6-3, 230), have been successful in their bid to win the title of best school among the competing ones. The performance of the QB Trent Seaborn (6-1, 190), and DB Anquon Fegans (6-1, 180) is crucial to their endeavors.
