Meanwhile, No. 5 Bishop Gorman looks to rebound from a recent loss as they face undefeated No. 12 Orange Lutheran, whose defense has been nearly impenetrable, allowing no more than 14 points in any game.

Top 3 thrilling high school football games this week

#3. Atascocita vs. Westlake – Friday, Sept. 13

The game between Atascocita and Westlake is now a classic rivalry. The No. 7 ranked Eagles (2-0) are at the top after a significant road victory over Katy, a former top-25 team, and will now take on the No. 11-ranked Westlake Chaparrals (2-0) in a heavyweight showdown. The last time these teams met, back in 2015, Westlake was the winner at 49-28.

Atascocita High School's offense is led by Oklahoma-commit Tory Blaylock and running back Cardae Mack. On the other hand, Westlake is coming off a 63-point offensive explosion last week, and they look to continue their dominance on both sides of the ball.

#2. Orange Lutheran vs. Bishop Gorman – Friday, Sept. 13

Over in Las Vegas, Bishop Gorman High School is set to rebound from a humbling loss to No. 1-ranked Mater Dei. The Gaels (2-1), who are sixth in the national rankings, will play the unbeaten Orange Lutheran Lancers (3-0) who are the defending champions in their league, and their defense has not allowed any team to score more than 14 points in a single game so far this season.

The Lancers are ranked No. 19 and have been battle-tested with an incredibly challenging schedule. Last week, they secured a gritty 15-13 win against Baltimore’s St. Frances Academy. Leading the charge for Orange Lutheran is Nebraska quarterback commit TJ Lateef.

Meanwhile, Gorman’s offense, spearheaded by LSU wide receiver commit Derek Meadows, is hungry for a breakout performance after struggling to get much going against Mater Dei. With Meadows as a towering target at 6-foot-6 and plenty of offensive firepower, Gorman will be looking to regain its momentum.

#1. St. Frances Academy vs. Duncanville – Saturday, Sept. 14

On the marquee event of the weekend, which is Saturday, the 2nd-ranked Duncanville (1-0) meets with St. Frances Academy (2-1). Duncanville, who just won 30 out of their last 31 games, is fresh from a 34-12 win over South Oak Cliff.

Led by Alabama quarterback commit Keelon Russell and Oregon-bound wide receiver Dakorien Moore, the Panthers’ offense looks unstoppable after Russell's five-touchdown performance last week. Last week, the Maryland powerhouse suffered a narrow 15-13 defeat to Orange Lutheran. Despite the loss, St. Frances High School boasts defensive backs Blake Woodby and Jireh Edwards.
