Calvary Christian High School (Florida) star Shon Abaev is now down to his top five schools. On3's Joe Tipton reported that they are Arizona State, Arkansas, Auburn, Cincinnati and Oregon. The decision came after he made official visits to each of the five schools.

The No. 29 overall prospect in the Class of 2025 per On3 Industry Rankings also received offers from Georgia, Tennessee, Dayton, USC and Syracuse, among others. Abaev said that he still does not have any timeframe for when he will announce the school he'll commit to.

On3's Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM) has given Auburn the best chance to land Abaev at 14.9%. Georgia and Tennessee were next, but both schools were not part of his list.

Cincinnati, Oregon and Arizona State each have a 9.3% chance of landing him, while Arkansas was not even part of the RPM predictions. However, it was made before he announced his top five.

As a junior, Abaev averaged 18.1 points, 6.3 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.8 steals per game for the Eagles. He is also ranked by On3 as the No. 8 small forward and the No. 6 player in Florida.

What scouts are saying about 4-star forward Shon Abaev

Avaev is a prolific scorer who was described by On3's Jamie Shaw as "able to create space and shot opportunities with the ball in his hands." He also has excellent footwork that goes well with his high release.

Shaw added that he still needs to work on his passing and off-ball movement, but overall, he is a solid athlete who can "catch fire quickly."

“When it comes to Shon Abaev, when you get right down to it, no one in this class is able to create separation like he is," Shaw wrote. "The long-armed 6-foot-7 wing carries an array of misdirections and off-balanced footwork that allow him to get a clean look at any point in the possession from any level on the court."

Last summer, the four-star forward competed in the Under Armour Next Circuit and averaged 21.1 points per game for his team, SOH Elite. He also shot 38.5% from beyond the arc and 89.4% from the free-throw line.
