Philadelphia's William Penn Charter standout guard, Jake West, has committed to joining Chris Collins' Northwestern Wildcats. The decision to choose Northwestern as his destination came after much deliberation. West cited the perfect fit with the players, coaching staff, and the esteemed Big Ten basketball conference as pivotal factors in his choice.

As the fourth commitment in Northwestern's Class of 2025, Jake West brings a wealth of talent and promise. The senior combo guard, heralded as the No. 6 player in the state by 247Sports, had garnered interest from various schools before ultimately selecting Northwestern.

However, the official announcement was made via a live stream, given his online fame running parallel to his basketball dream.

West developed a bond with the Northwestern athletes and staff after visiting Philadelphia and then officially visiting Evanston, Illinois.

Jake West shared admiration for his top landing spots

Only last week, Jake West made headlines by narrowing down his college choices to five schools, with Florida being one of the top contenders.

The 6-foot-3 guard, who showed his skills for the Team Final Nike EYBL AAU program, has captured the attention of recruiters across the country. He averaged 14.1 points per game and 4.0 assists per game over 15 games with Team Final.

In an interview with ZAGSBLOG, Jake West provided insights into his considerations for each of the schools in his top five. He expressed admiration for the playing style and coaching investment at UNC Charlotte, emphasized Coastal Carolina's strong interest in him, and highlighted the strong basketball culture at VCU.

While acknowledging his options, West addressed the coaches’ interest in him.

“Coastal Carolina is special. Their coaches are awesome. They’ve really been onto me. I think they’ve done like two or three home visits so far. So it’s awesome to see that they are really invested in me. And it’s a great area so it’s awesome,” West said.

He also acknowledged the appeal of Northwestern's coaching staff and players and the high-level basketball opportunity presented by the school.
