Andreas Holst, a 7-foot-tall Danish power forward, announced his commitment to the Oklahoma Sooners. According to Joe Tipton, basketball reporter for On3 Sports, Holst is ranked 54th nationally in the 2025 class.
In March, Holst posted game film to X, formerly known as Twitter, displaying his skill. The 18-year-old has an amazing ability to shoot from beyond the arc and make plays off the bounce. Check out his film here:
The 4-star recruit is also the No. 14 power forward. He played basketball at Bears Academy, a team from Aarhus, Denmark. Holst considered some other offers before he finally chose the Sooners. USC, SMU, Washington, Missouri, and others asked for his commitment, but Holst chose OU because of the "overall environment."
“I chose OU because of how the overall environment felt. I felt good energy from everyone on the team from my visit and feel like Coach Moser’s playstyle is what really suits the way I want to play," said Holst.
Holst averaged 9.5 points per game and shot 34.5% from beyond the arc. He also stated that he trusts the coaching staff, "I got a good connection with Moser and the entire staff. We had good and real conversations with each other that made me feel like this is the place to go."
When asked about his game style, Holst said, "I’m a 7 footer who loves knocking down threes and getting down in transition with my fluidity at my size. I also love getting up for some dunks!”
What does the addition of Andreas Holst mean for the Oklahoma Sooners?
Head coach Porter Moser completes the second commitment for his team after securing a committment from 4-star forward Alec Blair in July. The 2024 season will be Oklahoma's first in the SEC.
It's not just the roster that is being revamped. The Sooners hired Josh Oppenheimer as assistant coach. He was assistant coach for the Milwaukee Bucks before joining OU, and also has experience with the Brooklyn Nets and the Houston Rockets.
The Oklahoma Sooners finished eighth in the Big 12 Conference with a 20-12 overall and 8-10 conference record in the 2023-24 season. The team and fans will be looking to improve upon that next season.
