No. 8 recruit and Arkansas commit Meleek Thomas took to Instagram to congratulate Xair Stevenson after he was signed by the Buffalo Bulls. Stevenson shared the news on his Instagram page and Thomas shared a 4-word reaction in the comment box.
"Proud brother love u," commented Thomas.
"Welcome to the family, Xair! #UBhornsUP🤘 | #BullMarket 📈," the post was captioned.
Stevenson received an offer from the Bulls in February and was described as "a Buffalo recruit who excels as a playmaking linebacker on defense."
As for Thomas, he committed to Arkansas on Nov. 11 after considering offers from Pittsburgh, Connecticut, Auburn, Kansas State and others. He played for Lincoln Park Performing Arts Charter School and scored 1,750 points in three years. Thomas averaged a double-double as he scored 23.5 points, grabbed 10.8 boards, dished out 5.8 assists, and stole the ball 3.3 times per game.
While representing New Heights Lightning in the Nike EYBL, the 6-foot-3 shooting guard averaged 20.3 ppg, 5.1 rpg, and 2.4 apg while playing 27 minutes per game.
While talking to the Pittsburgh Union, Thomas spoke about what set him apart as a player.
"I take pride in defense. The more you get into the season, the harder the games become," said Meleek Thomas.
"The atmosphere becomes bigger. Everything just gets more serious, more intense. So, if I lollygagged around on defense, I would be viewed as a completely different player."
Thomas set for Arkansas after Overtime Elite
The 6-foot-3 shooting guard will join John Calipari and the Razorbacks after completing his stint at the Overtime Elite Academy. In the current season for OTE, Thomas has played five games, averaging a double-double with 27.0 points, 4.2 rebounds, 10.8 rebounds and 1.4 steals in 28.8 minutes per contest.
In the 2024-25 non-conference season for OTE, he averaged 13.7 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 2.0 apg and 1.7 spg.
Arkansas has the fourth-best 2025 recruitment class according to On3. Thomas is set to join five-star recruit Darius Acuff, who is ranked at the 9th spot nationally and first in the point guard position. Acuff committed to Arkansas July 26.
Another player Calipari landed is Isaiah Sealy, who is the best player in Arkansas and ranks in the top 100 nationally.
