Five-star prospect Brayden Burries was one of the stars in Roosevelt High School's win against Coronado on Thursday morning. The 6-foot-4 shooting guard delivered an impressive performance, recording 19 points, eight rebounds and four steals to help the Mustangs kickstart their new year with a 77-59 win.
The Mustangs had a good start, leading 23-17 in the first quarter. However, in the second quarter, they got outscored by two points, which reduced their lead to four. They would, however, go on to win by fourteen points in the second half, sealing the victory with an 18-point lead.
5-foot-9 senior Myles Walker also played a crucial role in the victory. He, alongside the Class of 2025 recruit Isaac Williamson, put up double-figure points to help the Mustangs to victory.
Walker had 18 points, seven assists and seven steals. Williamson recorded 14 points, four rebounds and five assists.
Roosevelt High School will be hoping to build on this momentum to grab another win against O'Connor High School in their next game on Friday.
5-Star prospect Brayden Burries remains uncommitted
Five-star prospect Brayden Burries is one of the few five-star recruits from the 2025 class who is yet to announce commitment to any college programs. The 6-foot-4 shooting guard has received offers from top colleges like Kansas, Arizona, LSU, Duke, USC and Oregon, among others.
According to On3 predictions, Arizona is ahead with a 33.2% chance of securing his commitment. Next in line are USC and Oregon, who have a 14.8% and 12,6% chance, respectively.
Apart from Burries, only about four other five-star class of 2025 prospects have not announced their commitment yet. Highland's Nate Ament, 6-foot-7 power forward Koa Peat, 6-foot-9 Caleb Wilson and DME Academy point guard Mikel Brown Jr. have also not committed to any college programs yet.
