Koa Peat, a five-star power forward from Perry High School in Gilbert, Arizona, is visiting the University of Arizona this weekend, On3's Joe Tipton tweeted on Thursday. The trip is the sixth official visit for the 6-foot-8 youngster. Peat, the sixth-ranked player in the Class of 2025, made an unofficial visit to UA in February. Perry High is approximately 30 miles from the University of Arizona campus.
Peat’s scouting report suggests his release and form while taking jump shots can make him a huge shooting threat. His productivity, rebounding ability and floor vision are equally impressive.
Multiple schools interested in signing Koa Peat
According to On3, the Arizona Wildcats are the frontrunners to land Koa Peat, with a 20.1% chance.
The Arizona State Sun Devils, with a 13.3% chance, and the Texas Longhorns, with an 11.4% chance, are also in contention. The Duke Blue Devils, the Houston Cougars, the Baylor Bears, the Michigan Wolverines and the North Carolina Tar Heels closely follow with 9.5% chances.
Peat has already ticked visits to Arizona State, Texas, Michigan, North Carolina and Houston off the list. His visits to Duke and Baylor are scheduled on Oct. 18 and Oct. 25, respectively.
Koa Peat averaged 15.0 points, 1.6 assists, 6.1 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per game, playing a key role in Perry’s maiden Class 6A title in his first high school season. As a junior, Peat averaged 20.5 ppg, 3.4 apg, 10.6 rpg and 2.2 bpg, leading the Pumas to a 30-1 season and the inaugural AIA Open Division state title. He was named the Arizona Gatorade Player of the Year.
Peat represented Team USA, which won the gold medal at the FIBA U17 World Cup in 2022 and 2024.
Arizona has yet to land a commitment to the 2025 class. Given Arizona coach Tommy Lloyd's preference for having a dominant big man in his lineup, he would be eager to secure Koa Peat.
