Meleek Thomas, a five-star guard from Lincoln Park, Pennsylvania, is again in the buzz of the college basketball recruiting scene as he prepares to make unofficial visits to Arkansas and Kansas State. Though these visits have yet to be officially confirmed, a KNWA FOX24 report about his visit to the Razorbacks suggests fierce competition among schools to secure his commitment.
Thomas, ranked as the No. 6 player nationally in the 2025 cycle by the On3 Industry Rankings, has already taken multiple official visits, including trips to Pittsburgh, Kentucky (under the previous coaching staff) and Auburn. He has also visited Penn State, Indiana and Villanova unofficially.
Meleek Thomas's recruitment momentum picked up following his visit to UConn from June 19 to 21, where he met with coach Dan Hurley. The Huskies, fresh off their second consecutive national championship, are keen on adding Thomas to their roster. While a visit to Arkansas was initially planned for June 25 to 27, it was eventually canceled but later rescheduled for September.
The talented guard has narrowed his choices to seven schools: Alabama, Auburn, Kansas, Kansas State, Pittsburgh, UConn and Arkansas. With impressive high school stats, averaging 22.7 points and 10.2 rebounds per game, Thomas remains a top target for these elite programs.
His ability to score at all three levels and improved playmaking skills have made him a standout in high school basketball. Meleek Thomas has also highlighted the importance of playing against top competition.
“I’m already a three-level scorer, but I’m seeing my teammates better when they’re cutting for the ball,” Thomas previously told On3’s Jamie Shaw.
“I’m getting to my spots better and scoring easier now. Playing 17u only makes me better. I take a lot of pieces from a lot of guys in the league. Like Steph Curry for his off-ball movement, LeBron (James) with how dominant he is, and Chris Paul for his point guard skills.”
John Calipari pursues 5-star guard Meleek Thomas after moving to Arkansas
Meleek Thomas remains a significant target for John Calipari, even after the coach's transition from Kentucky to Arkansas. Thomas confirmed receiving a scholarship offer from the Razorbacks on April 19.
Arkansas is a strong contender in Thomas' recruitment, joining a competitive field that includes Auburn, Connecticut, Indiana, Illinois, Kansas, Miami and others. Reflecting on his recruiting journey, Thomas told 247Sports’ Dushawn London:
"This process has been crazy, especially with the period coming up when they can actually talk to me directly. A lot of schools have been in contact; it's been hectic. The overall message I've been hearing so far is that I have a place at their school... They tell me they know I'm young, but I should always know I have a place there."
Standing at 6-foot-4 and weighing 175 pounds, Meleek Thomas is widely regarded as the top combo guard in the 2025 recruiting class. During his senior season, he averaged 19.0 points, 4.5 assists, 8.3 rebounds and 3.5 steals per game. According to the 247Sports Composite Ratings, Thomas is a five-star recruit with a score of 0.9976.
