LSU commit ZaKiyah Johnson, who's ranked as the seventh best recruit in the Class of 2025, has continued to produce some stellar performances for the Sacred Heart Academy.
Sports anchor Horodyski asked the 6-foot-0 guard about the kind of legacy she hopes to leave behind. ZaKiyah Johnson responded:
"I want to be the greatest to come out of Kentucky. I want to go to the league, I want all the little girls to grow up and say, I want to be like ZaKiyah," said Johnson.
She added about her off-court presence:
"You can be a good basketball player but as a person you should show who you are as a person."
ZaKiyah Johnson also talked about leaving home to join LSU:
"I mean nobody ever wants to leave home. It's gonna be hard leaving my family and I think about it almost everyday but I think going down there and being able to see some of the things I see here will help me."
With offers from top programs like Kentucky, Louisville, Tennessee, Arizona and more, Johnson committed to LSU on Nov. 3. While talking to On3, she expressed her reason for picking the Tigers and Kim Mulkey:
“I’m definitely really close with all the staff there,” Johnson told On3. “They’re really energetic and I like that. I’m an energetic person too – I’m very social – so I think we click there. The fact that we can have long conversations is good for me.”
