No. 5 recruit in the Class of 2026, Miikka Muurinen has displayed some stellar performances for his high school, AZ Compass Prep, against Montverde on Monday. With the help of Davis Fogle's 12 points, seven rebounds and three assists, and Muurinen's clutch four-point play, the Dragons came away with a tight 45-41 victory.

The highlight of the Finnish player's fourth-quarter play was uploaded on X by the famous basketball page 'SportsCenter NEXT':

With just 29.4 seconds left in the final quarter, Montverde trailed by one point. However, the Dragons had the ball and Muurinen drained a shot from the 3-point line after an inbound pass.

Furthermore, the 6-foot-10 power forward was fouled and converted the four-point play to give the Dragons a five-point lead with just 27.4 seconds left on the clock.

Both Muurinen and Fogle were assisted by CJ Ingram's 10 points and seven rebounds, and Dante Allen's nine points and six boards.

The win helped the Dragons avenge their 64-49 loss against Montverde in April 2024, marking their third win in four games and bumping their record to 3-4. On the other hand, the loss ended the Eagles' five-game winning streak, reducing their record to 13-3.

Miikka Muurinen ranks first in the power forward position and Arizona in the Class of 2026. AZ Compass Prep's coach Pete Kaffey commended Muurinen's shooting ability and athleticism:

“A guy that came out of nowhere this summer,” AZ Compass coach Pete Kaffey told Cronkite News about Muurinen. “His ability, being 6-foot-10, to step out, shoot 3s, rebound, athleticism and make plays around the rim. I just think it was intriguing for a lot of colleges. Obviously, he’s a winner.”

Muurinen represented the Next Generation Select Team in the Euroleague Next Generation Tournament in Dubai and averaged seven points, five rebounds and one block per contest in seven games.

Furthermore, the Finland international led the Bradley Beal Elite to win the Nike EYBL Peach Jam tournament, scoring 21 points in the final on July 22, 2024.
