Nate Ament, the only uncommitted top 10 player in the Class of 2025, signed a unique NIL deal with team-building platform Fanstake on Wednesday. The deal marks Ament’s first-ever equity NIL deal and provides a groundbreaking technology as it lets the fans leverage Ament's decision to choose a college.
Ament narrowed his list down to 11 schools including Alabama, Arkansas, BYU, Duke, Georgetown, Kansas State, Kentucky, Louisville, Notre Dame, Tennessee and Texas. On3's Joe Tipton confirmed the news on Instagram.
He talked about the deal, stating that Fanstake will allow the fans to be part of the recruitment process.
“I’m proud to partner with Fanstake,” Ament said. “This platform gives fans a unique way to be part of the recruiting process, which is pretty cool. I’m still weighing my options for where I’ll play, and there’s a lot to consider, but it’s exciting to see how fans can get involved in helping me find the right fit.”
The fans will be allowed to pledge monetary support (called stakes) to influence Ament's desire to choose their favorite school.
While there is no obligation for Nate Ament to commit to the program with the highest stake, the stakes will be used to decide on a new NIL endorsement, if he commits to the program. Furthermore, to maintain a transparent system, fans will be refunded the full amount of money, if Ament chooses a different program.
However, if Ament commits to the choice, 90% of the funds will go to him, 3% will be received by his teammates and 7% will be kept by Fanstake. Ament marks the second player the company patterned up with after signing a deal with Colorado quarterback Julian “JuJu” Lewis on Dec. 25.
What is Nate Ament's NIL value?
With a NIL valuation of $1.3 million, Ament sits at the fourth spot, above the son of the four-time NBA Champ LeBron James, Bryce James in the High School Basketball NIL Rankings, according to On3.
In the NIL 100 rankings, Nate Ament ranks at the 54th spot. Before his NIL deal with Fanstake, the Highland High School player patterned up with Reebok on Oct. 17. He talked about the deal with Swish Cultures in a video posted on YouTube in November.
"Obviously I didn't really know about Reebok," Ament said (0:55). "I don't know much about clothing brands, to be honest, (or even) shoe companies. But once I did my research, researched their products, the management, the people they've brought in, it was really just a no-brainer for me."
