Oregon Ducks signee Gavin Nix recently took to Instagram to share a reflective post about his journey as a football player. He celebrated his accomplishment of becoming an All-American.
“End of an amazing chapter, grateful for all the blessings and growth along the way. I can’t wait to see what God has in store for my future. Blessed to finish as an All-American! 🙏🏾,” wrote the four-star linebacker on Monday.
The heartfelt post resonated with his future teammate, five-star recruit Na’eem Offord, who reposted it to his Instagram story with a brief but supportive caption:
“Brodiee 🦆🤞🏼.”
Nix, a standout from IMG Academy in Florida, flipped his commitment from Miami to Oregon on National Signing Day. According to 247Sports’ composite rankings, he is the No. 26 linebacker and ranks 239th nationally. Nix described his decision-making process as challenging but ultimately guided by faith.
“It was most definitely hectic. I’ll be lying if I say it was easy, but, you know, just like I said when I posted it publicly, it was really just me following my heart,” Nix said.
“Nothing bad about Miami, nothing bad that I can say about them. Love the guys over there. And yeah, it was hard, but Miami understood and at the end of the day, I had to do what I felt like was best for my future."
Although leaving Miami was difficult, Nix shared that his admiration for Oregon had always been strong.
“Oregon was my favorite out of all of them. So, that going down to the wire, I didn’t want to have too many schools in the loop. I was always serious about Oregon. Oregon was always the one I loved. And you know, being from Florida, it was some natural stuff that I battle with the family and this, that, and the third. Everything happens for a reason."
Five-Star recruit Na’eem Offord opted for Oregon’s growing legacy
On National Signing Day, five-star cornerback Na’eem Offord elevated Oregon’s 2025 recruiting class, becoming their second-highest-ranked signee. Ranked No. 11 overall, Offord follows wide receiver Dakorien Moore, ranked No. 3 in the ESPN 300, among the Ducks’ recruits.
Offord, a Birmingham, Alabama native, surprised many by selecting Oregon over Ohio State and Auburn. He credited the Ducks’ consistent recruitment as a decisive factor in his commitment.
“At the end, they just recruited me the hardest,” Offord stated. “He (Lanning) got a real good staff around him, a real good culture, a very good school, as you can see.
"Dan Lanning, he’s only been there for a couple of years. Like I told everybody, you can see a big impact. He coming in, he’s trying to make a huge impact. He’s trying to win him a national championship.”
Offord joined an Oregon defensive class that features five ESPN 300 players, including cornerbacks Dorian Brew (No. 53) and Brandon Finney (No. 34), as well as linebackers Nasir Wyatt (No. 88) and Gavin Nix (No. 209).
