Tyran Stokes, the No. 1 recruit in the 2026 class as per 247Sports, transferred from Napa Prolific Prep to Notre Dame Sherman Oaks back in July 2024. He was already doing well at his former school, averaging around 12.3 points, seven rebounds, and 5.6 assists per game. When he moved to his current high school, Notre Dame, Sherman Oaks, it came as a surprise to the hoop fans.
Now, the 6-foot-7 small forward has revealed the actual reason for his high school transfer. Talking to Sports Illustrated on December 11, Stokes revealed the normal high school experience to be the primary reason he moved to Notre Dame.
"At Prolific (Prep), it was basketball, basketball, basketball, at here [Notre Dame] I get to enjoy, you know, time with myself," he shared with SI.
“Practice is over at 5:30, so I get to go home; I can chill with my dog and do different stuff. I get a little break and have time to do my homework, you know. At Prolific Prep I get home at 9:30, shower, eat, and sleep. So you know it's different, different experiences,” he concluded.
Despite a more relaxed routine than Prolific Prep, Notre Dame boasts a strong roster. Stokes will be a part of the team that includes rising junior Caleb Ogbu, the Northridge Heritage Christian transfer Josiah Nance, skilled wing Zach White, and talented point guard Lino Mark.
