Both Isiah Harwell and Chris Cenac are signed to the Houston Cougars' 2025 class. Harwell, a five-star shooting guard, posted an Instagram story featuring Cenac, a 6-foot-10 center from Link Academy, Branson, Missouri. Harwell captioned it:
“GANG🤞🏾”
Cenac was a huge win for Houston coach Kelvin Sampson as he became the program's highest-ranked recruit since the ESPN recruiting database began in 2007, according to ESPN's Jeff Borzello, when he signed on Wednesday. ESPN ranked him at No. 7 nationally. That's one slot higher than Quentin Grimes, a 2021 first-round NBA draft pick.
Cenac, who had over 30 offers, narrowed down his options to LSU, Arkansas, Kentucky, Baylor, Tennessee and Auburn. While LSU and Kentucky both pushed hard to bag the five-star prospect, the Cougars ultimately got Cenac’s signature on account of better understanding between the big man and the Cougars head coach.
“I built a great relationship with Coach Sampson, (associate head) Coach (Quannas) White, and the rest of the staff. They have a plan to develop me, and I trust them," Cenac told ESPN.
Following Cenac's signing, Isiah Harwell celebrated.
"Ooooo Baby Houston We Definitely Got a Problem," Harwell wrote in an IG post.
Isiah Harwell stuns fans with his outstanding performance
Isiah Harwell recently showcased why he is considered one of the top prospects. Living up to his reputation, Harwell dropped 24 points alongside eight rebounds and three steals, leading his team to a 57-48 victory. The Cougars signee was up against Veritas Academy (Ontario, California) on Wednesday.
Before Chris Cenac pledged to the Cougars, Harwell was the highest-ranked recruit in Kelvin Sampson's 2025 class. The No. 2 shooting guard, per 247Sports, picked the Cougars over programs like Texas, California, Alabama and more.
"Isiah is a high-level player and a high-level person. He fits our culture and comes from a tremendous family and great program at Wasatch Academy,” Kelvin Sampson said on the Houston Athletics YouTube channel.
“Isiah is a very mature young man. He knew what he wanted to do and has no ego. He is a winner and wants to achieve at a high level. He fits us, and we fit him.”
Isiah Harwell and Chris Cenac's signings to the Houston Cougars give the program a significant edge over its rivals. Together, they form a formidable duo for Houston's 2025 recruiting class.
