Promising tight end prospect Linkon Cure recently shared insights into why he views the University of Oregon as a standout choice among college football programs. As a five-star rated prospect by 247 Sports, Cure's college commitment remains a hot topic of discussion, and Oregon seems to be a strong contender.
The tight end's recent unofficial visit to Eugene for Oregon’s spring game left a lasting impression. Speaking with ScoopDuck, he praised Oregon's facilities and the relationships fostered between players, coaches, and staff members.
"Everything about Oregon makes Oregon different from the rest,” Cure said. “Obviously facilities are top notch and always will be, but you can feel it from just talking to coaches and staff members that they have an amazing alignment throughout the program.”
Reflecting on the visit to Duck Territory, Cure mentioned:
"The feeling of the whole visit stuck out. It felt like home. I think everything about the visit stood out to me. I loved every bit of it."
Cure also developed a good bond with head coach Dan Lanning, tight end coach Drew Mehringer, and offensive coordinator Will Stein.
"I spent time, mostly with Coach Mehringer, Lanning, and Stein. My takeaway was how good my relationships with them are and how much I am wanted there."
Oregon’s consistent pursuit of Cure reflects the program’s commitment to recruiting top talent. He caught 42 passes for 946 yards, along with 14 touchdowns in his junior season. 247 Sports ranks him as the No. 26 player nationally, the No. 2 tight end, and the No. 2 recruit in Kansas for the 2025 class.
Linkon Cure announces his final four potential destinations
Linkon Cure has narrowed down his college choices to a final four. The announcement, made via Hayes Fawcett of On3 Sports, revealed that the tight end is considering Oregon, Kansas State, Texas A&M, and Kansas as potential destinations for his college career.
Cure had no link with the Aggies until offensive coordinator Collin Klein's arrival. Klein's presence at Texas A&M sparked newfound interest from the tight end.
"They weren't even a school in question until Klein got down there. He immediately started recruiting me and our relationship is just absolutely amazing. It's just normal conversation, just amazing relationships."
Linkon Cure visited Texas A&M, which left a strong impression on him. He praised Klein and expressed admiration for the program's direction under first-year head coach Mike Elko.
“I love the relationships I have with the staff!” Cure said (via on3). “I love the culture and absolutely love where the program is headed. The coaches want to coach for each other and players want to play for each other."
Linkon Cure visited Kansas State in April and talked about his experience (via K-State Online).
“The visit was amazing. I loved every bit of it,” Cure said. “We started out at practice and I got to talk with a lot of people and watch practice. I really enjoyed that.”
He also bonded with tight ends coach Brian Lepak and head coach Chris Klieman.
Kansas, where Cure's brother Leyton Cure is a member of the football team, holds a special place in his considerations.
"A little bit of it was my brother," Cure said (via 247 Sports). "But I wouldn't say a lot of it was that. I do really believe in Kansas football. A lot of people don't want to believe it, but just being there you really get a feel for their program. It's aligned, there's not much wrong with it at all."
Following his visit to Kansas, Linkon Cure will officially visit Texas A&M on June 7, Oregon on June 14, and Kansas State on June 21.
