Rutgers small forward Ace Bailey was the No. 2 ranked player for the class of 2024, giving his class's No. 1 rank, Cooper Flagg, a run for his money in terms of skill. How does he compare to the No. 2 player from the Class of 2025 Cameron Boozer though?
Cameron Boozer is right behind AJ Dybantsa in the recruitment rankings for his class, though like Bailey, several experts also believe that he is more than a match for his class's No. 1, with many already predicting that after his freshman year at Duke, he would go straight to the NBA as a possible No. 1 draft pick.
On this reel posted on Instagram by Slam High School, you can see a matchup between Bailey and Boozer on Holiday Hoopsgiving in November.
In a head-to-head comparison of their stats last year, Ace Bailey averaged a double-double with 33.5 points, 15.5 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 2.9 blocks per game during his senior year. Meanwhile, Cameron Boozer, son of former NBA All-Star Carlos Boozer, averaged 22.2 points, 11.4 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 2.1 blocks per game.
It should be noted, however, that these are Bailey's senior year stats being compared to Boozer's junior year stats, with Cameron yet to play an official game as a senior. Cameron also shares the spotlight with his twin brother, Cayden, who is also in the top 20 players in the country for the class of 2025 (No. 17).
In terms of winning records, Bailey led McEachern to be one of the top teams in the region with a 26-6 (8-0 region) record. However, he and his team failed to win the Georgia state championship on March 9, 2024, falling to Grayson, 51-41.
Cameron Boozer, on the other hand, has had a better record with his team, the Christopher Columbus High School Explorers.
He and his brother led the school to three straight state championships, with a possible fourth championship for this school year. He and his brother also dominated with their AAU program, the Nightrydas Elite, which won three straight Peach Jam championships.
Ace Bailey shines during Rutgers exhibition game
Ace Bailey has already started playing for his collegiate team, the Rutgers Golden Knights. He and fellow freshman star Dylan Harper showed that they were worth the hype, even though they lost to St. John's in an exhibition game, 91-85 on Oct. 17.
“Dylan (Harper) is, for a freshman, so under control... He was amazing and Ace Bailey just has great talent. Both of them are great. They deserve the rankings they are getting,” St. John’s coach Rick Pitino said after the game.
Bailey had 25 points during the game, with Harper adding 20 points. Meanwhile, Rutgers team captain Zach Martini noted that the loss will "pay off in dividends down the line" and the team vows to use the loss as a learning experience.
