The Saint Joseph's University (SJU) Hawks have had a good start to the 2024-2025 season and have been very efficient when it comes to the assist to turnover ratio. The HighlightHER Instagram page released a list of stats leaders for the category, and this was shared by Hawks center Lizzy Gruber, who is dating three-star Maine commit Ace Flagg, twin brother of Duke star Cooper Flagg.
The University of Connecticut was named the best school when it comes to the assist to turnover ratio at 2.08, followed by Texas Christian University, led by a resurgent Hailey Van Lith. Kansas State, Creighton, Minnesota, Kentucky, and Colorado State respectively make up the third to seventh places. Finally, SJU, which includes Gruber, is at No. 8.
The 6-4 sophomore center has not played much this season, only averaging 0.4 points per game with the Hawks, with 0.6 rebounds, 0.1 assists and 0.3 blocks per game. As for SJU, the school has not yet played any opponents from the A-10 yet, but they are sitting at fifth place with five wins and two losses.
As for her relationship with Ace Flagg, the two are originally from Maine, but their lives in basketball meant that they had to have a long-distance relationship. Flagg moved from Florida to North Carolina to be closer to his brother, Cooper. He plays for Greensboro Day School, which is just an hour's drive away from Duke where Cooper is studying.
Lizzy Gruber and Ace Flagg celebrated second anniversary together
Both Gruber and Flagg have been dating for two years now, and last October, Gruber shared photos of herself with the Greensboro Day star with the caption, "two years of mailing u love letters."
While they had been dating for two years, they only came out publicly as a couple, being "Instagram official" back in April. Soon after, Flagg himself confirmed that they were dating.
While Flagg was part of that undefeated Chipotle Nationals championship run with his brother and the Montverde Academy Eagles, his girlfriend spent her entire high school basketball career in Maine.
Gruber was considered one of the best female high school basketball stars in the state of Maine, being named the state's Miss Basketball for 2023 and also the KVAC Player of the Year, also for 2023. While she does not get to play as much for SJU, she was still the first player to record her 1,000th rebound before her 1,000th point in Maine high school basketball history.
