Eric Musselman and USC have been making strong moves in the recruiting cycle in the past few years. They landed LeBron James' son, Bronny James, and helped him develop into an NBA-level player, and now they are trying to do the same with Carmelo Anthony's son, Kiyan Anthony.
The 6-foot-5 shooting guard announced on X (formerly Twitter) that he received an offer from the Trojans. USC joins a long list of colleges that have extended an offer to the four-star recruit. Other colleges include UCF, Tennessee, Illinois, Pittsburgh, Dayton, Maryland and Michigan.
USC had Bronny James on their roster for the 2023-24 season. He played only 25 games for the Trojans before declaring for the 2024 NBA draft. The Los Angeles Lakers drafted Bronny in the second round.
Kiyan Anthony is one of the best high school players around. He is ranked No. 31 nationally and is the 10th-best shooting guard in the country, as per On3 Industry Rankings. He is also the best prospect in the state of New York. Syracuse leads the race to sign Anthony despite an offer from USC, as per On3.
Ja Morant attended Kiyan Anthony's Peach Jam game on Wednesday
Kiyan Anthony, the son of former NBA all-star Carmelo Anthony, is no stranger to being in the spotlight. The four-star recruit is one of the best players from the class of 2025 and has had some great performances at the Peach Jam.
After his 40-point outburst earlier this month, two-time All-Star Ja Morant was in attendance on Wednesday to watch Anthony score 26 points on 8-12 shooting in an 85-68 win over NW Rotary Rebels. Anthony also went 2-4 from beyond the arc.
Anthony is one of the highest scorers in the tournament through five games, and his Team Melo has a 4-1 record. The 17-year-old has already received offers from some of the best schools in the nation. His father's alma mater, Syracuse, has had a steady presence at his games throughout the tournament.
Anthony has taken official visits to Syracuse and Florida State and is set to visit some top schools in the coming weeks. However, the Orange are front-runners to land the 6-foot-5 shooting guard and have an 89.4 percent chance of signing him, according to On3's Recruiting Prediction Machine.
Other schools in contention include USC, Manhattan, George Mason, Memphis, West Virginia and Arizona State.
