Notre Dame witnessed a blow this month when four-star quarterback Deuce Knight flipped his commitment to Auburn, but received the commitment of four-star quarterback Blake Hebert to the 2025 class on Monday.
The 6-foot-3, 215-pound, quarterback confirmed his commitment news on X, writing:
"HERE COME THE IRISH!☘️ #THINKBIG #committed."
Hebert has been committed to Clemson since last year. Four minutes before announcing his commitment to Marcus Freeman's program, he announced his decommitment from the Tigers.
"I’d like to start by thanking the Clemson coaching staff as well as the program itself for all they have done for me. With that being said, I have chosen to withdraw my commitment and will spend my next 4 years at another institution," Hebert posted on X.
Notre Dame had originally offered Hebert a scholarship last year, but he opted to commit to Clemson just six days later. But with Knight flipping to Auburn, the Irish quarterback coach and pass game coordinator Gino Guidugli worked to re-engage Hebert and eventually succeeded in bringing him to the fold.
Hebert joins a Notre Dame 2025 recruiting class that includes 23 total commitments, bolstered by the addition of Hebert’s high school teammates: offensive tackle Matty Augustine and safety Ethan Long. With his commitment, Notre Dame’s 2025 class ranks No. 13 nationally.
Meanwhile, Clemson’s 2025 class has 13 total commitments and ranks 31st nationally. It has also lost the sole committed quarterback but has multiple four-star prospects, including edge rusher Ari Watford and defensive lineman Amare Adams.
What does Blake Hebert bring to Notre Dame?
Blake Hebert has led Brunswick High School (Greenwich, Connecticut) to 4-0 this season, ranking No. 2 team in the state, per On3’s Massey Ratings. Needless to say, Notre Dame will be in good hands with him.
Wayne McGillicuddy, Brunswick's coach, couldn’t praise Hebert enough.
“One of the best leaders I've ever been around,” McGillicuddy told Irish Sports Daily. “Hands down, the best leader I've been around, the best work ethic. He makes everyone around him better. He picks everyone up."
Before transferring to Brunswick, Hebert played for Central Catholic High School in Massachusetts. Unfortunately, his junior season was cut short after he fractured his ankle during the season opener.
Blake Hebert has thrown for 900 yards, eight touchdowns and five interceptions, while also adding 234 rushing yards and seven rushing touchdowns on 23 carries. He's ranked by On3 as the No. 408 overall prospect in the nation and the No. 30 quarterback in the 2025 class.
