AJ Dybantsa, the top-ranked overall prospect in the Class of 2025, announced his commitment to BYU for college. This decision aligns with many experts' predictions, as Dybantsa is expected to spend just one year at BYU before declaring for the 2026 NBA Draft.

Paul Biancardi, ESPN's National Director of Recruiting, shares his insights on what AJ could achieve during his time at BYU.

"AJ exhibits the athletic ability of LeBron James and Tracy McGrady coming out of high school," said the ESPN analyst. "If eligible, he would be the favorite to be the No. 1 pick in this upcoming NBA draft."

Biancardi also complimented the small forward's talent on the court.

"Standing at 6-9, his combination of versatility, basketball IQ, scoring prowess, and competitive nature sets him apart," Biancardi added.

AJ Dybantsa said that he plays like both Tracy McGrady and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander on First Take. However, his favorite player of all time is Kevin Durant and he was attracted to BYU because coach Kevin Young used to coach the two-time NBA champion.

AJ Dybantsa wants to get to the NBA as fast as possible and he believes that Kevin Young and his staff, many of whom previously worked for NBA teams, would be the best way to get there.

Analyst talks about potential impact of AJ Dybantsa to BYU next year

247Sports' scouting analyst, Adam Finkelstein, noted that AJ Dybantsa knows "to get to his spots and create his own shot in a half-court game" and that is is most known for his mid-range pull-up. However, Dybantsa has since expanded his offensive game and is now utilizing his 7-foot wingspan and athleticism even more.

Dybantsa would likely join a team with plenty of veteran experience returning to the line-up. This support would give the small forward a lot of opportunity to take the mantle as the Cougars' primary scoring threat.

Finkelstein also noted that Dybantsa will be surrounded by enough shooters to spread the floor.

Off the court, AJ Dybantsa's presence would also place BYU centerstage on being a destination for players who want to eventually go to the NBA.
