Five-star Utah Prep small forward AJ Dybantsa, the consensus No. 1 overall prospect from the Class of 2025, will announce which college he will go to on ESPN's First Take. Only four schools are left for him to choose from, and they are BYU, Alabama, North Carolina, and Kansas.

As a small forward for Utah Prep, the No. 1 recruit averaged a double-double, with 17.7 points, 10.2 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game this season, according to MaxPreps.

Outside of the regular high school basketball season, AJ Dybantsa also participated in the 2024 FIBA U17 World Cup in Turkey, helping the United States win the gold medal. He averaged 14.1 points, 3.9 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game. This includes a big 19-point performance against France in the opening game, where he also had five rebounds and four assists.

During the Nike EYBL Peach Jam, he played for the Oakland Soldiers and averaged 23.7 points, 5.7 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game. He led the Soldiers to the finals but fell to the Boozer Twins and the eventual champions, the Nightrydas Elite. He was the third-leading scorer in the tournament.

AJ Dybantsa's valiant effort vs. Prolific Prep not enough

Utah Prep is currently on a two-game losing streak, which began last Friday with an 80-77 loss to Dream City Christian National. This was preceded by a 76-70 defeat against No. 3 ranked Darryn Peterson's Prolific Prep on Sunday.

In the game against Prolific Prep, AJ Dybantsa put forth a strong performance against his former team, scoring 28 points, grabbing eight rebounds, and providing six assists. However, Utah Prep was at a disadvantage during that game, as they were missing their key player, four-star point guard and Washington commit, JJ Mandaquit.

Meanwhile, Peterson himself wasn't 100%, playing through cramps. Despite this, the five-star guard and Kansas commit posted 32 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists.

Peterson, who is ranked third, has now beaten both players ranked higher than him. He defeated No. 2 Cameron Boozer and Christopher Columbus High School earlier in November.
