Laura Govan's son Alijah Arenas reclassifies to the Class of 2025

Laura Govan's son Alijah Arenas is ranked as the second-best shooting guard and holds a fourth rank nationally in the high school basketball circuit.

Last December, reports poured in regarding Alijah's reclassification to the Class of 2025. On Dec 2, Alijah's dad, Gilbert, made the announcement on his Watch Party stream.

In an interview with 247Sports, Alijah opened up about his decision for reclassification.

"My family and I made the decision when it got to my junior year," Arenas said on reclassifying. "We saw the options and wanted to take the big step of looking towards college. I am trying to get there and to the league early," Alijah said.

As of now, he has yet to commit to a university, and offers have already poured in from Arizona, Kentucky, and USC. Arenas has his eye set on these three programs.

"Those three schools are the ones that do the best job at making me feel lie family. They are the three that I have been keying in on along with a lot of others," Alijah added.

In December last year, in an interview with On3, he revealed the factors he looks for in a school.

"For college, the atmosphere and the crowd is kind of the number one thing I’m looking for,” Arenas said. “That helps the team so much. “I’m going to look at who I think can take my game to the next level, which is pro. I’ll look at player development and who I think will develop me the best,”Alijah noted.

Alijah's performance at Chatsworth is highly praised. In his freshmen year, he played 27 games averaging 30.3 points, nine rebounds, and two assists. He upped the game in his sophomore year with 35 games, averaging 33 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 2.9 assists. Moving on to his junior year, he played 12 games with an average of 31.3 points, 7.9 rebounds, and five assists per game per MaxPreps.
